Totally superficial I know but I think she looks absolutely fantastic.

especially compared to those lovely tennis players who look so fit and healthy.

Can you really not see how well muscled athletes are different ?

There is no hope.

formerbabe · 15/07/2019 09:46

You are ridiculously narrow minded @formerbabe . I'm 5ft 4" weigh 49kgs and a size 6. Don't have to work at it at all, don't eat masses but wish I weighed a bit more as people can be really nasty. I've been even thinner (hated it but no eating disorder)

I've seen plenty of thin people...I very much doubt Kate is a size six. She looks smaller than that to me.

Here's the thing...she looks amazing. She is beautiful imo but that's because of her face and hair. Her figure is amazing for fashion, she can wear anything and look nice.

The thing that annoys me is all these posters who say they regularly see women as slim as her. I see thin women all the time but none who are as slim as her. I think some of the posters on here who think they look like her are delusional.

Also it's interesting the number of posters on here who've seen her in real life and have declared that she looks absolutely tiny in the flesh.

fancynancyclancy · 15/07/2019 09:49

She is very thin, a size 6 at 5ft 9 is small. As someone who did a bit of modelling I can guarantee she looks teeny in real life.

Weaponsgradeplum · 15/07/2019 09:50

@formerbabe I am skinnier than her and a size 6. I know what I look like. I'm not putting a photo up in case anyone recognised me, you'll just have to take my word for it. Sadly I'm not beautiful though !

formerbabe · 15/07/2019 09:50

Oh and the comments on here are really bitchy.

Basically insinuating that anyone who thinks Kate is thin is a jealous fat bitch who has no idea of what a normal weight is....and as long as we don't scoff our faces, we can all look like her.

SunnyInGrimsby · 15/07/2019 09:51

I agree.
Also I'm surprised at the assumption that thin women have to spend hours in the gym when in my experience this is simply not the case.

SoupDragon · 15/07/2019 09:52

Oh and the comments on here are really bitchy.

Yes. But not the comments you're whinging about.

Weaponsgradeplum · 15/07/2019 09:53

suzieqqq looks awful?? Really?? And you're a right stunner are you? Hmm

OooErMissus · 15/07/2019 09:56

I am skinnier than her and a size 6.

Have you actually stood near enough next to her in real life, to make that judgment?

Or are you basing your opinion on photos and shots from TV?

fancynancyclancy · 15/07/2019 09:57

I live in SW London & used to work in fashion so yes I’m used to seeing slim women in my life. However I can’t think of any that are the same height as Kate & are that small.

fancynancyclancy · 15/07/2019 09:58

But yet half the posters on Mumsnet look the same as her. 🤷‍♀️

OooErMissus · 15/07/2019 10:01

Everyone's saying 'I'm a size 6' as if that's proof of anything.

Kate is more like a size 2 or even 0, so you being a size 6 means nothing. And it certainly seems that she's taller than all the (random) size 6-ers, anyway. Confused

OooErMissus · 15/07/2019 10:02

To confirm - I think she looks amazing, and would love to have her figure.

SoupDragon · 15/07/2019 10:03

🙄

Weaponsgradeplum · 15/07/2019 10:05

oerr no I've not met her but my arms are far skinnier than hers (hate them but that's by the by) so is my bust - photos of her next to photos of me - I'm skinnier - so don't say the photos lie. I'm a fully functional adult whose had 3 children and lives a normal life whatever that is

PortiaCastis · 15/07/2019 10:06

I was thinner than her and was in hospital for anorexia because my exh spent his days fat shaming me.
Words do have an effect on a person

Weaponsgradeplum · 15/07/2019 10:08

Yes she is taller than me I agree, my waist is 24/25. Very untoned though (me) I really disagree that she must be a 2 or a zero. So bloody what if she is though! She's had three gorgeous children too so hardly unhealthy.

OooErMissus · 15/07/2019 10:12

Well, someone who's also a size 6 has met her in real life, and says she was considerably tinier than her, so... I'm probably more inclined to take that person's word for it.

It's just amusing that so many people think they're as slim, if not slimmer than her, while ignoring the many extra inches in height she has. Oh, and basing their opinion of her on photos and shots from Tv - never having actually met her.

I very rarely see anyone in real life with a figure as stunning as hers, as much as so many here are clamouring to claim it.

Again - she looks incredible.

Limensoda · 15/07/2019 10:14

Of course people think she looks better “with some weight on her”, as the majority of women are overweight and it makes them feel better to think/say this

Exactly!
Kate looks and is perfectly normal weight wise. She looks healthy.
Too many people have lost sight of what is 'normal' for human beings.
When I was a child the majority of people, especially her age and younger looked like she does.
Children were what people call 'skinny' today. They weren't starving. They ate three meals a day and mostly active.
There was one child in my class who everyone thought was fat. When I look at my class photos she looks the same as many kids do today.

OooErMissus · 15/07/2019 10:17

Can I just drop this shot of QEII to remind us that being very slim isn't some new phenomenon.

I bet her shape wasn't dissected back then as much as Kate's is!

different activity level, different body. How is that hard to understand. Neither are unhealthy. You can be stunning either way.
So many examples, but here's one:

The80sweregreat · 15/07/2019 10:33

In the 50s and 60s more people smoked and there was less food about to consume so men and women were all thinner than they are today.
It all started to go wrong in the 70 s and 80s for lots of folk I think. If Kate had been around when the Queen was young nobody would have thought anything of her size at all. I think she looks fine.

fancynancyclancy · 15/07/2019 10:41

I thought in the past women were shorter & had a different shape, smaller waists.

zonkin · 15/07/2019 10:49

I think she has a lovely figure. She's had 3 healthy pregnancies and none of those children were on the small side when born.

She is naturally slim anyway (look at her mother and sister) and has the benefits of having staff.

I was watching some nostalgia early 1980s programme a few months ago and was genuinely surprised how slim everyone looked.

I do see women who appear to be as slim as her. And tall too. She's not some freak.

feelingverylazytoday · 15/07/2019 11:05

I grew up in the 70s, and I believe Kate would have been seen as very slim even then, especially for a woman in her 30s. Most people were not that slim, and a 5'9" woman would certainly have been regarded as very tall. I was one of the tallest girls in my class in senior school, and I'm 5 ' 4" . I can only recall ever knowing one girl who was that tall, and she did get some modelling work as a result.
She seems to have a very narrow frame in addition to being tall, so that enhances the lean slim look and of course she dresses to emphasise it. She doesn't look unhealthy to me though, people that are really underweight usually show it in the face, round the jaw and cheekbones.
