To ask what this insect is?

Seen today in churchyard/park several of them flying around. Not had any luck identifying

Ooh they were loving the solidago in my back garden today and I didn’t know what they were either!

I've no idea. He's absolutely stunning, though, magical almost. Just like a character from a story book.

It's a soldier beetle

I think it's a soldier beetle too. Fun fact - they're also called hogweed bonking beetles because they spend most of their life, well, bonking!
