Following on from a thread where OP doesn't like wind turbines.

For me I can't stand walking past high buildings. I get so dizzy and frightened!

Almost passed out once as a child walking past Blackpool Tower..

OP posts:
DougalsBlueJumper · 14/07/2019 02:30

Monkey puzzle trees. I know there aren't many of them about, but I'm terrified of them.

2toe · 14/07/2019 02:37

I’m so glad I’m not the only person who has no mirrors, all my friends think they I am batshit but I’m half convinced I will be pulled in to one!
Clowns and porcelain dolls or even worse a porcelain clown, they terrify me, don’t turn your back, they will try to kill you.

2toe · 14/07/2019 02:39

Oh and errors in your own posts (as shown above) that make you look illiterate when you are exhausted, makes me worry I’m losing brain cells at an accelerated rate.

Rtmhwales · 14/07/2019 02:43

Ketchup / red sauce.
I can't even touch the bottle.

Gingerkittykat · 14/07/2019 02:51

Bars of soap, the thought of touching wet soggy soap sends me into a panic. I can't cope with looking at soap and the smell of it sends me crazy.

Luckily I'm fine with handwash and shower gel.

TappyTin · 14/07/2019 02:52

Milk

No, really. I have a phobia of milk.

Durgasarrow · 14/07/2019 04:38

Sponges. They repulse me.

BasiliskStare · 14/07/2019 04:58

Dry docks , large ships when you are going round them in a small boat , locks. anything with large rusting things and heights or depth & water. I also do not like the little grills you see at the bottom of swimming pools. Also those lifts with the metal cage doors on them. Yes I would not call it a phobia but I would not like an empty swimming pool. Also any massive machinery especially when indoors.

Definitely those water cooler / gas towers things on ( is it the M6 ? )

Well spiders ( obviously) but you asked for weird ones - to me arachnophobia is just a normal part of life.

Of late I have taken against avocado stones. I have to remove them quickly and put them in the bin. ( This is a weird one even by my standards I do realise )

The button one comes up so many times - can anyone one explain it ?

Oh my DH and DS laugh at me about how many things I cannot abide.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 14/07/2019 05:32

Veins. Disgusting.

timeandtimeagain42 · 14/07/2019 06:33

Deserted spaces that have once been really busy so empty swimming pools, especially big leisure complex ones with slides, but also deserted soft play places, hospitals, schools, shopping centres. From time to time you see photos of these deserted places and I really struggle to get past them.

Moanger · 14/07/2019 07:09

@Wormentrude I’m the same with mirrors in the dark. 🙂

I also think sunflowers and rhubarb leaves are going to suck me into them and kill me or send me to another dimension. I know it’s irrational but they freak me out.

LostPlatypus · 14/07/2019 07:12

Ants especially red ants. They're just fast and there's always loads of them and urgh.

Fleas, lice and other similar creatures. I just imagine them growing huge and overwhelming everything (no, I've no idea why) so they terrify me.

Ticking clocks. I just think they're going to explode (why yes I did watch films that I was too young for as a child).

Starrynights86 · 14/07/2019 07:13

I hate getting dishes out of the sink. Especially if they haven’t been rinsed properly. Just makes me feel ill, leave them on the side!

Amicompletelyinsane · 14/07/2019 07:15

Elastic bands. Eugh just writing it makes me shiver. Took my dh years to notice. But one day he stretched one towards me and I freaked. I can't deal with them. I swear the postman knows and leaves them on my drive on purpose

letsgomaths · 14/07/2019 07:18

As a child, blind man's buff; even if it was mentioned in a story, it made me shudder. It was the idea of someone who couldn't see me trying to find and chase me, and then work out who I was by feel. They'd be running around with their hands out, and because I couldn't see their eyes, it made them look all the scarier, and knowing that if I was caught, I'd be blindfolded myself. Eek!! Shock Shock But surprisingly, when this did happen, I accepted my fate and didn't mind being the blind man at all. Even though I couldn't see, I somehow felt more in control of the situation. Grin

Ringdonna · 14/07/2019 07:18

Still water like reservoirs or lakes freak me out.

MadamWaffle · 14/07/2019 07:26

I hate anything soggy in general, but Wet tissue used to make me vomit. I'm not so bad now. I still can't stand it, the thought of it is turning my stomach, actually, but I seem to have outgrown the vomiting reaction.

Also, massive boats or massive spaceships make me shudder. No idea why!

DropOfffArtiste · 14/07/2019 07:27

Polystyrene. The sound, the texture.

Cantchooseaname · 14/07/2019 07:32

Moths and butterflies.
The gills on big mushrooms.
The sound of someone vomiting.

4under4our · 14/07/2019 07:54

I didn't realise that even thinking about touching jewellery that's being worn by another person makes me sweat.

When my nieces started wearing little necklaces/bracelets and asked for help getting them on/off I just couldn't do it.

The first time my eldest niece could change her earrings after having her ears pierced she was a little nervous and said only I could touch them. I really wanted to help her but I couldn't make my hands go anywhere near the earring.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 14/07/2019 07:55

Holes. Clusters of holes. Make me vomity

Yes I have this too - it's called trypophobia. It extends to seeing the inside of things - even the inside if a hedge when it's been trimmed.

I also have a fear of swimming pools full of water but empty of people. I once arrived early at the gym pool, walked in and physically shuddered as there was no one in it. Had to leave. Thought it was just me but clearly not!

Cheery145 · 14/07/2019 08:02

Balloons, ever since I was a child. They had to be burst at other kids’ parties before I was brave enough to come into the room. Even now if I’m near a child with a balloon I’m completely on edge in case it bursts.

Also cars/motorbikes with loud exhausts. Sends me into a mass of stress and I have to block my ears. Just in case there is a loud bang. Genuinely sends me into a panic if I can’t block my ears because I’m carrying something.

TescoValueUserName · 14/07/2019 08:11

Ice! If I have it in a drink I have to use a straw, but the sound of it crunching makes me want to throw up. People crunching it, or the noise of drawers being pulled out of a frosted up freezer give me instant goosebumps and make me feel so sick.

I normally try and be very environmentally friendly, but if the car is iced up in the winter I have to leave the car running to warm up to melt it, no way am I scraping it 🤢🤢

Once i heard someone crunching ice in rhe cinema and wanted to move seats, but then realised it was malteasers and didnt mind it then. I'm weird!

Ellabella989 · 14/07/2019 08:14

The feel of cotton wool or toilet paper. Having to use a tampon gives me the absolute heave as well because of the cotton feel of it.
I also hate the feel of velvet.

Not so weird phobias I have are spiders and flying.

Scoleah · 14/07/2019 08:16

Wet Wool,
Big lorries or really oversized vehicles like you'd have working on an Opencast site Blush
