To ask my neighbours to turn their music down?

MN seems pretty clued up about neighbour etiquette so I want opinions before I look like a fruit loop.

Neighbours about 5 doors down have a giant bouncy castle and appear to be having a birthday party for one of the kids, with booze flowing presumably for the adults (can see from our window). The music is ridiculously loud and kids shrieking is added to it. My 2 can’t sleep. It’s 23 degrees outside and 28 in their rooms, closing windows isn’t an option. Eldest (6) just can’t sleep and 2yo chicken pox ridden toddler has woken twice.

WIBU to go and politely ask them to turn the music down? Or is it too early in the night?

For context - we live on a newish housing estate (lots of houses crammed together)never usually any bother at all.

Right now I know IANBU. They’re playing christmas songs. It’s July!

Summer in the city.

It will not end for a few weeks.. Get some noise cancelling headphones and eye masks for your kids. Shit happens.

I hate inconsiderate noise - but if they are normally quiet then I would grin and bear it this time. Its not worth potentially coming into conflict with those neighbours.

I’d give them until 10 and then ask.

But early still I think. Especially as a one off.
