to ask you how I measure my feet to find out how wide they are?

I KNOW this is a stupid question and I am sorry. If there's a YABU voting button please go ahead. But I can't work out whether I measure across the top of my foot at the widest point, across the sole of my foot at the widest point, or around the whole of my foot at the widest point.

I know I am being very stupid but I have checked the size guide and it just doesn't say.

Measure around the ball of your foot, so the widest bit before your toes.

(If you go into a shoe shop and have your feet measured its where the tape part goes)
