Gah! Why are the only spaces for prams in the quiet train coaches ?!

GWR trains only have one coach with room for prams which also happens to be the quiet coach! Just settled DS (9 months) for a London-Cardiff stint as instructed in the only accessible carriage not in first class. He is being quiet but not totally silent as I try to settle him off to sleep - when a lady comes to ask do I know this is the quiet coach and I should move elsewhere. I do feel for her as presumably she’s booked quiet coach for a reason but there isn’t anywhere else to go and I can’t hold DS for the entire journey and this is the only place to go! Now sitting desperately trying to stop DS from making any noise whatsoever ! Poor planning GWR!

It’s the quiet coach. Not the silent coach! It means no mobile phone conversations, rowdy mobs and noisy children playing and shouting.
You and your baby are fine!

From the GWR website - with no through traffic, you can guarantee a more relaxing journey. Mobile phones and personal stereos are not permitted to be used in quiet carriages, and noise is asked to be kept to a minimum.

Nothing about silence. Ignore her!

I have booked the quiet coach for London to Aberdeen in a few weeks. You and your baby wouldn't bother me.
Its the drunken hen and stag parties/Peppa pig on full volume on tablets/ loud phone calls and music i m hoping to avoid.
I can easily read my book next to a mum and baby making ordinary noises.

Thanks! Makes me feel a bit better !!

Well it does seem a bloody stupid place. Because they’ll always be some moaning git ready to complain.
I would probably contact them. It does seem stupid.

I know officially the quiet coach doesn't exclude children's noise, but I also felt annoyed like this when I once booked seats for DS and I. You can select quiet coach, but you can't select non-quiet coach, and they always seemed to put us in it.
