Job interview offer. WWYD?

I applied for a receptionist job a few weeks ago. I forgot I'd applied, until I received an email this morning offering me an interview. I'm writing the confirmation of attendance email and am unsure if I should mention that I need to use a walking stick to get around.
There was nowhere on the application to mention about any health issues (just send CV), and I'm unsure how it would be viewed if I didn't mention this prior to interview and just turned up tomorrow using my walking stick.
I don't want to potentially be seen as dishonest by not mentioning it, but I'm also worried that mentioning it could see the interview offer withdrawn as they may think it impractical for me to do the job while needing a walking stick.

Hi Jasmin

You should definitely not let your use of a stick rule out going for an opportunity. Do you still want the job?

It’s unusual that they don’t check about any arrangements they need to make for interviewees. I’d mention it, though. Just annoying you have to do it when responsibility should be on them.

You don't have to mention it, if it won't affect the job / getting to the interview room they don't need to know before hand. They can't use it as a reason to not employ you. I'm sure some employers might not employ people due to having a disability but won't mention that as the reason - there's not a lot you can do about that even if you suspect that's the reason you've not got the job, anyway, you wouldn't want to work for such a company.

You could mention it before, or during, saying even though you use a stick to get around, it doesn't affect your ability to do the job. But it's up to you.

You've made it to interview so your application must have been good and shows you're capable of the job. Good luck- I have an interview this afternoon Grin

Thanks, @Jasmin82, could have been better, could have been worse!

How did yours go?

Jarimbert · 13/07/2019 16:00

@Fluffybread I feel it went OK, I'll find out one way or the other by next Friday.

I'm following this to see if you've been given the job!

Well, I haven't heard anything, so going to guess I wasn't lucky on this occasion.
