Dm & Ddad here to stay at our house for two weeks, Ds and niece & nephew here too (they stayed with us first night, then to a hotel when dm & dd arrived to stay with us.
This week I’ve done two airport runs and one more tomorrow, 4 different round trip pick ups also in the last few days (I’m very tired after barely sleeping with Dd and arriving back from the airport at home midnight etc)
Love having my family over obviously but feel bit stressed with all the driving, hosting, cleaning, cooking etc.
Then today my parents asked if they could go out for a meal with my ds and chn (our girl too tired so we have to stay in)
They asked me to drop them at the hotel (my fifth journey today) and I’m now dat waiting for their text to drive there and pick them up from their night out)
Aibu to feel a bit put out? I want them to have a great time, but having no family here, we haven’t had a night out or few hours to ourselves since she was born (almost one now)
Tomorrow will be 4 more round trips and an airport run-I’m tired 😫

So they've just treated you as a holiday and didn't even offer to babysit one night so you could go out and have a break for a few hours?

Be the last time.

Can't you just tell them to get a taxi home?

Sundancer77 · 10/07/2019 21:16

They’ve only just arrived last night (parents) so haven’t had chance to offer to babysit yet tbf. My sister goes home tomorrow and is in the hotel on her own with the kids so my mum felt a bit bad on her just going out with the kids on her own for dinner she said 🤷‍♀️
They could get a taxi but didn’t offer that (did say they’d give petrol money and I know they def will as give money towards food shop etc)

Send them a cheery text, sorry I'm shattered from all the driving and getting a migraine, I'm off to bed, grab a taxi (number) the key is under the mat. Love you all

Agreed text and tell them you are going to bed early and have a headache, (or had a glass or two of wine) so they'll need to get a taxi back.
