To ask for support from those that have experience of ASN kids regressing in toilet training

I'm a bit desperate today and want a hand hold, hence this thread for traffic. I know that there's a SENsection, but it doesn't have the traffic.

My 7 year old dyspraxic girl was late to potty train, only managed it a year ago at 6 years old. We've had a year of her being OK at it though, maybe an accident a week on average, usually fine, much to our and schools relief.

However the last few weeks she's been soiling and wetting herself again on a daily basis, getting worse and worse each day. Yesterday it was 3 weeks and 1 poo. Today 1 wee and 1 poo already.

She just says she's sorry and it was an accident. that's all. I've been getting really angry and wanting to punish her, but I know I need to calm down and back off. I'm just so utterly depressed and disgusted.

Next week she's booked into a holiday club as I have to work, and now I'm desperatey worried.

Help! Anyone experienced this?

No experience with ASN but currently dealing with potty training regression so I didn't want to read and run. One of the key causes of potty training regression is constipation/impaction which somewhat counterintuitively can lead to poo accidents as well as wee. I'd recommend the Eric website and helpline as they talk this through and advise on treatment.

Honestly, I would get this moved to special needs, that's where you will get sensible answers without everyone else jumping in!

Has anything else changed for your DD, at home or at school? Anything that could be worrying her?

Is you DD worried about anything? Has something put her off using the toilet? When my son who has autism had a huge toilet regression it was all down to anxiety. You have my sympathy. It is so difficult.
