To have been disappointed with Toy Story 4 *SPOILER KLAXON*

I am a huge Toy Story fan. Definitely up there with my favourite Disney films.

Buuuuut I was disappointed with this one.

I wasn’t invested enough in Woody and Bo’s love story to feel much about the pairing. I remember it being a bit of a flirtation. She wasn’t all brave and gung-ho like Jessie, and I felt that this had been shoe horned in for the purposes of the story. Rewriting history!

The fork was annoying. The dummies were terrifying.

And there wasn’t enough Buzz or Jessie 😕

I mean it’s watchable and I laughed out loud in places but I wish they had finished it on Toy Story 3.

I thought Forky was hilarious Grin.

AndBreatheJustBreathe · 09/07/2019 22:02

I liked him for the first five minutes then I was over him.

I did like the two stuffed animals that were joined together though 😂😂

We thought it was boring as dry toast.

Definitely should have left it on the sob-inducing high of Toy Story 3.

our son/dil/and grand daughter drove 6 hours to ours and stayed the w/e all to see TS4. they really made it a big deal and were so excited to take their little one to see the movie in a "big theater". they live very very remotely...well long before they arrived at our home for supper we received a text message to not mention the movie at all...
obviously all three were dreadfully disappointed in the movie.

PianoTuner567 · 09/07/2019 22:07

Yep, a real disappointment. The story ended with the third one, there was nothing left to tell and it showed. And not enough Buzz, Rex, Hamm and the rest of them...

AndBreatheJustBreathe · 09/07/2019 22:08

I also liked Duke Caboom he was amusing

Only the nostalgia kept me watching.
The other 3 were good.

Nothing happens.

And those ventriloquist dolls, they are just weird anyway and should all be burnt.

It's not good at all. I will never watch it again.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 09/07/2019 22:15

I laughed out loud in places, but yeah, nowhete near as good as the other 3. DCs were sobbing at the end though

3luckystars · 09/07/2019 22:15

It's always just Tom Hanks promoting it too. I'd love to see Tim Allen talking about it.

I love Woody, but Buzz is an amazing character.

I am often reminded of the 'Prospector' from Toy Story2 here on mumsnet, someone posts something and then the questions come, I can hear his voice "why were you in a yard sale?"

Loopytiles · 09/07/2019 22:16

My DC aren’t fans of Toy Story and didn’t want to be taken to see this one Angry

Lalallama · 09/07/2019 22:18

I liked Forky, and Ducky and Rabbity (not sure if that was their names). But i agree about Woody and Bo, i didn't care enough about them getting together and couldn't really warm to Bo.

Lots of funny bits but I wanted to be sobbing at the end like I was with Toy Story 3, but I was just a bit meh.

Morgan12 · 09/07/2019 22:19

Totally shat all over the story that concluded in TS3. It was the perfect ending. And now they have made it shite. Total money grabbing garbage.

MsMD · 09/07/2019 22:20

We spent 3.85 movies about how Woody is completely loyal to his kid even choosing to stay in the attic forever instead of leaving.

Then 0.15 movies where it says fuck all of that he's leaving? There isnt even a good reason or a good goodbye scene.

I liked the movie overall but the ending was not right.

And we'll also ignore the organ harvesting in kids movie thing.

AndBreatheJustBreathe · 09/07/2019 22:21

I was far, far more invested in Jessie and Buzz’s relationship. I wish we had seen more of that.

Yeah I was disappointed with it too, liked Forky though.

Grin That's allll I'm going to think of now when I see the questions roll in!

Mabelchiltern1 · 09/07/2019 22:27

It’s time for Woody to move on and have his own adventures. He was Andy’s toy, and bored at Bonnie’s I’m hoping TS 5 will have W and Buzz reunited in adventures. Star

jessicawessica · 09/07/2019 22:29

I sobbed my heart out in the cinema watching Toy Story 3 (much to my DCs horror).
I managed to show them up again with number 4.....by falling asleep halfway through and snoring.
No emotional pull whatsoever this time. And not enough of Buzz.
Left wishing I'd not seen it as it marred my memories of the other 3.
