In expecting ex to pay...

Hubby left 3 years ago for OW. A month or so later he starred paying maintenance for our DD who is now 10. He's always paid £30 a week, but refused to pay it into my bank, which would have been much easier for me. He's always sent cash back in DDs bag. He's on a low income as he only works 1 night a week (he does get carers allowance too but I know that can't count towards maintenance) so if I'd gone to CSA I would have got less.
Tonight no money came with DD so texted & he's said it's time it was done properly & he will be contacting CSA.
Does anyone know how long CSA take to sort a claim?
And AIBU to think he should carry on paying something in the meantime?
It's nearly the summer hols, we always spend more then, & I'd been expecting that £30 a week. Now we have nothing for god knows how long.
Also, he occasionally works an extra shift, or has meetings or training he gets paid for. I've never bothered about that before cos he was paying more ...but how does something like that work with CSA?

If I were you I would start the ball rolling with cms rather than wait for him. Your claim starts from the time they contact the payee so the sooner you contact them, the better. It would be good if he paid whilst the claim was being set up but sadly he is under no obligation to. It takes about 6 weeks to set up. CMS get information from the inland revenue so as long as he declares all his pay , his additional income will be taken into account.
