**TMI warning** To not try to remove blueberry stains from baby’s skin

Her poops are awful at the moment, she’s teething and the smell is awful, like actual acidy sewage, and as a result she’s got a crazy sore bum.

She had blueberries recently and the most recent poop reflected that fact, it’s made the skin on her bum blue/grey - I changed her as soon as I knew she’d gone but evidently not soon enough as it was enough time for it to really stain, particularly on the sorest bits.

I’ve tried wiping but even as gently as possible but it was really upsetting her, bath did nothing, I think it needs a good scrubbing to have any impact.

AIBU to leave it as is and put Metanium over it or should I persist trying to get it off?

Please help I don’t know what the fuck to do.

Leave it as it is, it'll fade eventually

BiscuitDrama · 09/07/2019 18:13

I’d just leave it. Smile
It’ll come off as new skin is made.

Dottysmum18 · 09/07/2019 18:14

It will fade scubbing will only make her sore bits worse dont worry about it

RockyRolly · 09/07/2019 18:14

Use soap in the bath I.e aveno baby etc scrub lightly with a flannel. Use sudocrem overnight. It'll be fine soon. Bath every day if her bum is that sore, wipes dont do the job.

Icedlatte · 09/07/2019 18:14

Just leave it!! Why would you put her through extra discomfort for an aesthetic issue, which no one will see anyway?

In the kindest possible way, don't sweat the small stuff. She'll soon be turning up to school photos with Sharpie on her face, glitter tattoos half stuck to her arms and paint down her jumper.

ElizaPancakes · 09/07/2019 18:15

I’m not being funny, but why does the colour of her actual bum hole matter? Or even on her cheeks? Why would you distress her to clean stains off a part of her body only you see?

Just keep it clean and dry, as much bare bum time as possible. It’ll fade eventually.

Icedlatte · 09/07/2019 18:15

Sorry if my first paragraph reads shouty, it's not meant to!

iamruth · 09/07/2019 18:17

Bath then metanium, it’ll soon be sorted. If the poo’s are really bad bath as often as is possible/reasonable after a bad nappy and then thin layer of yellow metanium really sorted my three out. Hope she’s ok poor love

ohhelloitsyou · 09/07/2019 18:17

Definitely leave it. If you rub it’ll make her sore. Give her a few baths and time out of her nappy to dry off, that usually helped my DS with his nappy rash.

BillywigSting · 09/07/2019 18:17

Yes just leave it. My ds has been a bit of a glutton for blueberries since he was weaned and as long as there's no actual bits of blueberry skin stuck to her skin just leave it be. It stains a bit like felt tip, you really have to scrub it hard to get it off or just let it fade on its own over a day or two.

I wouldn't scrub it even it wasn't sore but as it is metanuim and gentle cleaning is the way forward

Trafalger · 09/07/2019 18:17

I had this and totally panicked as I thought it was bruising all over her bum Blush I then googled and it said it was a sign of abuse and panicked even more even though it was only me and partner who had looked after her. The next day they were gone and I realised what it was. They will fade. Don't worry.

RockyRolly · 09/07/2019 18:19

OP seriously metatnium is so shit get some sudocrem on that.a nice thick layer overnight calms even the reddest of arses.

Owlbert · 09/07/2019 18:21

Yeah, leave it and use metanium (that stuff is amazing!)

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 09/07/2019 18:24

Leave it, it's only staining, it won't hurt.

Soothing bath, nappy free time and lots of soothing barrier cream over night. Hope her poor bum is better soon, nappy rash is miserable. Poor mite.

TenDays · 09/07/2019 18:24

The staining will soon come off. Forget about it.

CCquavers · 09/07/2019 18:24

Metanium is your best friend. Should have it cleared up in two days if not overnight.

Might be worth cutting back on acids such as fruits just until it’s cleared.

BertieBotts · 09/07/2019 18:26

Leave it, it really doesn't matter. Do warn anyone who changes her that they are strains not bruises though!

MrsMaow · 09/07/2019 18:35

Thanks everyone, i’ll definitely be leaving it.

Just to clarify I wasn’t worried about it for aesthetic reasons, just thinking whatever causes the staining could somehow act as a barrier between the sore and the metanium, or make the soreness worse somehow - no one said FTM worries have to be logical Grin

Weleda calendula cream for the nappy rash. Swear by the stuff and I was always a metanium lover but this is so much better and all natural too!!
