Am so sorry to post in here doing it for traffic. We are travelling by car from Glasgow to Devon today and my 15 year old daughter is crippled with period pain. She had paracetamol at 9-30 and ibuprofen at 11-15 but neither have calmed it down, she is in agony.I can't give her anything else can I?and is there anything stronger I can give her? Thanks

Can you get a hot water bottle or the heat pads from Boots etc??

I find that two Buscopan help to relieve my cramps when taken with Ibruprofen and paracetamol. It's safe to take them with those drugs. I hope that she gets some relief.

Information here so that you can double check it's suitable for your dd. www.nhs.uk/medicines/buscopan-hyoscine-butylbromide/

Co-codamol? She might be a bit young.

Bless her, I have really bad period pain too (I'm 20) and I've had it since I started my periods age 12.

The only thing I've found that's worked for me is a medicine called Feminax (you can find it on the supermarket shelf) but I buy the cheaper own brand version of it that's called 'ibuprofen lysine' (usually £2 or so cheaper than branded Feminax).

Hot bath always helps, I never really feel like eating much either as I get nauseas from the pain. Keep her away from any caffeine whilst she's on her period as that can increase the pain.

Hope she is okay- I really sympathise. No doctors took me seriously with how bad it was for me over the years and I've only just been referred to a gynaecologist to investigate possible endometriosis.

Also I never usually take painkillers but on my period I will take 6 of the ibuprofen lysine tablets (max you can take!) each day just to get through the day (and even then I spend it in bed crippled still).

Buscopan
I've been given that to take with paracetamol and ibuprofen
Works well

I use buscopan too. I feel for her as I was crippled when I was young. The pill helped and I went on it at 15 it also helped my pmt. hot water bottle were a good help, I couldn’t take any painkillers as I threw up from the pain so they couldn’t take effect. If she’s taking ibuprofen she will need to eat something or she will be sick even if she has no appetite which I didn’t.
