My DD got to sing this in a recent school play: if you are a girl and pretty you don't need to work, with a smile at the right time you can get whatever you want. Girls were referred to as birds, flirts and worse. Age group 11-16. School said it was a satire and kept in line with the original play on which the school play was based. What's your opinion?

What was the play?

I think I need more info, which play is it? How is the satire used?

sorry - name of play would give it away.... but irrespective of the name - I just think its not appropriate. Satire in so far as that all main characters where all bad - cheats, liars, thieves and basically backstabbing each other. I don't think DD thought it was satirical. But she didn't really mind - they were basically all just playing baddies - which she actually enjoyed. I just thought the language & text were not appropriate. (They also used "sluts" for girls..). Derogative terms for boys were geezer, thieve, liar.
