My neighbor is having a party, that's fine it's 7pm it's summer, I'm happy for them (wish I was at one truth be told). My baby can't put himself to sleep because the base on their reggae music is shaking the house. It's not even the noise it's the vibrations.
Would I have a leg to stand on to ask them very nicely if they could lower the base for even half an hour so he can put himself to sleep?
It's literally shaking my walls.

No of course not. If you say it's just for half an hour suspect they are more likely to agree.

hidinginthenightgarden · 06/07/2019 19:10

Not unreasonable to ask them to turn the base down.

MissConductUS · 06/07/2019 19:11

Have you spoken with them before? YANBU to ask them to turn it down a bit.

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 19:11

Okay, I hate doing this sort of thing but he has just had his year jab and is really fussy.
Thanks

I think that’s completely reasonable

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 19:13

They have only just moved in. I don't want to piss on their parade but I'm going to have to ask nicely sooner rather than later. If I hadn't drunk all my wine I would take a bottle over 😶

If the party is a one off, ie the neighbours don't make a habit of it, just suck it up. You could always keep your baby with you in a little cot or pram, whatever you have, rather than in bedroom near the noise.

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 19:19

He is not sleep in a pram size. Regardless of that thou, it's not the room that's affected it's the house foundations.
Few songs I like though. Looking in your eyeeesss I'm looking in your big brown eyes boom boom boom

Off I go to beg for 15 mins 🤞🏻

BeanoBrown · 06/07/2019 19:19

if they've only just moved in and you think its a one off I'd just put up with it, so I wasn't seen as the whingy ndn. but then I'm a bit soft at standing up for myself.

Livebythecoast · 06/07/2019 19:25

We're having a little party for my daughter's 16th at the end of the month. We live on a little estate so I'll be putting notes through neighbours doors as it will be 7pm-11pm and about 20 teenagers and we're using the garden so it's only fair to warn them. YANBU

OldUnit · 06/07/2019 19:28

*bass

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 19:28

I've done it- literally just asked them if they don't mind just for 20 mins or so and then he will be dead to the world. They were nice. Hope they have a nice party.
Have a great time @livebythecoast

Right you are @OldUnit

Livebythecoast · 06/07/2019 19:35

Awwww, thank you.❤
Glad they were nice to you

OneInAMillionYou · 06/07/2019 19:45

Loud bass is a nightmare OP. Vibrations are worse than volume of music and if you are in a normal house, you really don't need the bass to be at club level!
Manufacturers of sound systems for domestic use should be compelled to limit the bass capacity in my opinion, it makes people's lives miserable if they are unfortunate enough to live near to an inconsiderate neighbour.

I hope both you and your baby get to have a peaceful night, and this is not the start of a pattern of ignorant behaviour by your neighbours.

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 19:46

Okay so they have actually turned it up not down..

OP posts:
foreverhanging · 06/07/2019 19:49

Oh no Sad

Didntwanttochangemyname · 06/07/2019 19:51

Seriously? That's awful! I can't believe they've turned it up after being nice to your face!

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 19:52

If it weren't for my son crying because he can't sleep I would literally have no issue. It's not like I can put ear plugs on him. just hope he goes somehow and soon 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 19:53

Yes, it's noticeably louder, unfortunately.

OP posts:
Hecateh · 06/07/2019 19:54

Okay so they have actually turned it up not down..

Suspect the house owner turned it down and someone else attending the party turned it back up again - but even louder. Not sure that you can do any more though.

mazv1953 · 06/07/2019 19:54

Complain to the police - you tried to be nice x

InsertFunnyUsername · 06/07/2019 19:54

Well, i was not expecting that

Roussette · 06/07/2019 19:57

The police have far more important things to do than sort out something like this!

InsertFunnyUsername · 06/07/2019 19:57

Will your son fall asleep if you go for a walk? Only because you said omce hes asleep he will be fine, it might be a little walk/drive. You shouldn't have to obviously but... Neighbours 🙄
