My neighbor is having a party, that's fine it's 7pm it's summer, I'm happy for them (wish I was at one truth be told). My baby can't put himself to sleep because the base on their reggae music is shaking the house. It's not even the noise it's the vibrations.
Would I have a leg to stand on to ask them very nicely if they could lower the base for even half an hour so he can put himself to sleep?
It's literally shaking my walls.

Your son will find it even harder if he senses that you are upset. Can you put some white noise on in his room. (Maybe a fan) that may be enough to allow him to settle.

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 19:59

@Hecateh

Never a truer word said.

Maybe put him to bed and vacuum outside his room. That is noise he is used and also a bit of vibration.

NabooThatsWho · 06/07/2019 20:00

Yes try a fan or white noise on your phone (or both at once).

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 20:00

Okay, I have a fan actually I'll give that a go. Thanks guys.

Oh no, that's horrible 👎.
If you didn't have a young baby I'd get up at silly o'clock in the morning and play some dreadful loud music whilst crashing pots and pans - they'll all have hangovers 🤢.
This of course is a silly and immature idea but oh so tempting!

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 20:02

@Livebythecoast
Oh he is up at 5:30am daily so this is possible 😂To be honest he is such a bad sleeper (still wakes at night) that I think that's why I'm feeling more desperate because he has such crap sleep.

They said they would turn it down and they turned it up? Confused They sound lovely...

Livebythecoast · 06/07/2019 20:09

Oh bless you. I do feel for you. It's very inconsiderate of them especially if they know you have a baby. A little note would of maybe given you the option to stay at family or friends. We have no babies or young children on our estate. I just think it's common courtesy to tell neighbours if you're having a party.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 06/07/2019 20:12

Go round and have a word but this time take the crying baby with you!

twirlypoo · 06/07/2019 20:13

Oh that’s rubbish! You sounded so lovely and reasonable about it - def get revenge at 5am. Wheels on the bus full blast in the garden should do it. Oh! Actually, baby shark.....I’m sure we could help you come up with a set list for a full concert!

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 20:16

Haha @ baby shark. I don't know who that will piss off more though them or me.
I really was being understanding and nice to them I just hope as someone said upthread a guest turned it up and not the owner after we had a chat.

I'm just trying to remember the parties I had when I was younger. Although even at 19 I always posted a invite/note type thing to my neighbours

bobstersmum · 06/07/2019 20:23

I'm sorry that they're being noisy and inconsiderate but I think at this time you are allowed to play loud music, if it was after 10pm I'd be more annoyed but it's only early. I'd blast some white noise out for the little one it should drown it out enough for him to sleep.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 06/07/2019 20:24

Go and ask again, if they don't turn it down it means they are dickheads and I'd ring the police.

Scoobydoobywho · 06/07/2019 20:26

Even if it was one of the guests, you would think the owner would turn it back down again pronto.

nocoolnamesleft · 06/07/2019 20:29

What time tomorrow morning are you mowing the grass?

Imupallnightto · 06/07/2019 20:33

Guys the man now has a microphone out in the garden rapping along. Perhaps I should have just put up with it and not made it worse !
I'm sure my son will end up so tired he can't resist no longer.

You are so not BU. It's not right, you can have a great party without making the neighbours around miserable. I sincerely hope they stop early enough.

I don't care about the time, this sort of nuisance should not be allowed, it's not fair whatever the time.

Thump · 06/07/2019 20:53

LOL Is your baby asleep yet?

Lilyannarose · 06/07/2019 20:56

Keep your fingers crossed for a power cut (preferably one that just trips their electric and doesn't effect anyone else!).
Seriously, they sound horrible!
Your request wasn't unreasonable at all and you were nice about it.
I can't believe they were nice to your face and then whacked the volume up!
I take it they don't have kids of their own? Maybe the boot will be on the other foot one day!

Alicesweewonders · 06/07/2019 20:56

My neighbor has decided to do DIY this evening, drilling/banging. I have a 10month old who can not sleep now🙄
