To be pissed off at my FIL for wasting concert tickets

Can't decide if I am or not, DP says I am.

For Christmas last year I spent money on two concert tickets for my FIL. Tonight is the concert.
The main act isn't on for another hour but the whole thing started at 3.

FIL isn't even there yet Hmm he has been waiting for a bus for 20 mins! He says if the next bus doesn't turn up he will just go home as he is shattered (he has worked for the last 2 weeks with one or two days off)

I had to put the tickets on my CC and haven't even paid it off yet! I'm so annoyed that he has let them go to waste. One ticket was wasted anyway as he couldn't find anybody to go with him Angry

Because he is like a father figure to me, he bends over backwards to help with the children and buy them what they need, I wanted to be able to do something nice for him.

He does sound weirdly disorganised. Unless he does night shifts, I don't really understand how tiredness would make the difference between leaving the house at 1pm and at 3pm.

Ah this is such a shame for both of you. You because it was well-intentioned, and you thought it was a great gift. And him because, to be honest, it sounds as if he’s a bit scared to go on his own, or it just feels a bit crap, so he’s laying the way for your questions about how the gig went (that is “I couldn’t get there ...”)
I’m sorry OP it sounds like you tried to do something nice. But I feel a bit sorry for him, too. x

I think it's quite sad that he couldn't find anyone to go with, and if he has been working hard then of course he'll be tired. It's not his fault you haven't paid them off yet, you chose to get them for him. If he was suddenly ill they'd have been "wasted" anyway.

Ok panic over!! FIL made it and has found somebody to go with as well! Feel like a bitch now Blush
It's a concert somewhere in Scotland although I'm not sure why its relevant lol

Oh naff off with 'don't know why it's relevant'! Of course we're going to want to know what the concert is.

BTW, I was at the Eagles at Wembley a couple of weeks ago, nobody paid any attention to Sheryl Crow and she got a golf clap. Most people were still trying to find their seats when she was on, and indeed when the Eagles did their incredible opening number (Seven Bridges Road) many were still juggling their junk food and screeching COLIN WHAT ROW IS IT IS IT THIS ROW COLIN so people are basically hopeless.

I've wasted numerous expensive concert tickets though because of either genuine illness or total exhaustion. I know it's a waste, but there have been days when I've got to the time I'd need to leave and I've realised that I'm just too worn out to go. Not much you can do about it. I've missed Bryan Adams, Deacon Blue, Thea Gilmore, Bruce Springteen (really gutted about that last one, but I was lying on the bathroom floor vomiting, so it wasn't an option) and probably several others.
