AIBU- love BBQ food, hate BBQs

We have had and been to lots of barbecues in the recent warm weather.
I love the char grilled taste of food cooked on the barbecue, crunchy, outer layer on meat and vegetables, succulent insides, the marinades, the accompanying salads, nibbles, the wine with friends...
BUT
Hate all the faff of a barbecue, every available serving dish plate, bowl and implement gets used, scattered all over and battered about. Everyone ends up smelling of smoke and So does the house as people wander in and out, seeking shade or toilet facilities. It just seems to take a day to get things set right, cleaned and aired out.
Maybe I am just a grumpy barbequed out host and we need to diversify for a bit now.
Just wondered if anyone else related to this bbq fatigue!

Me. The food can be great but our barbecue went to the tip because it rusted after being in the shed unused for years. Can’t be doing with all the faff.

Cooking for such a large number of people is always hard work. Imagine if it were a sit down meal for 20! In the garden you just have so many more guests. A party would be similar in the mess/work stakes.

I suggest you go to other people's houses for a while, until you get your mojo back!

In the summer we do a bbq just for dh, ds and I for dinner 2-3 times a week. It's easy when it's not for too many people with too many different sides. Love bbq food and salad.
