And their many uses. I use them for mini bin liners for my mini bathroom bin, putting smelly waste in before putting in kitchen bin, egg shells, used cotton pads soiled with nail varnish/remover, solidified fat from cooking and of course picking up the dogs poo.

Egg shells go in the compost. I buy decomposable poo bags and am considering installing a dog loo in the garden to dissolve the waste.

unless they are the ones made from corn starch you're just needlessly polluting the environment. In any event why wouldn't you just put eggshells in the bin?!

I have compostable dog bags, apparently will compost in 6 months. They cost about £1 more for 100.

Don't things only compost under certain conditions? Op doesn't say she is composting them, just putting them in the bin.

I use the compostable bags intended for food waste caddies for just about everything I use to use plastic for. Pack - ups, fruit and veg, rubbish in the car.... they even sell them in the pound shop!

I don't have a dog so no poo to clean up, but all the other things you mention just go straight into the kitchen bin - why do they need to be separately wrapped in a bag (plastic or compostable). I don't line my bathroom bin.

Those little bags are amazing. I’m pregnant so constantly feel sicky. TMI. They are brilliant for whipping out in the car or wherever I feeling too queasy and no toilets are nearby!

No, and products only degrade under certain conditions. Eggshells don’t need to be in bags, crush and put them around plants or in your compost heap, check your local recycling info for other products because We wouldn’t put egg shells in poop bags in our area to begin with.

A lot of supposedly biodegradable plastics actually just degrade to tiny little plastic particles, even if the condition are right for them to degrade at all

This drives me nuts, flamed for using poo bags and flamed for not. Do you want the dog poo picked up or not. I am quite happy to stop sing my poo bags and leave it with a little note saying Mumsnet crew say I can’t use these single use bags, talk to them

Chloemol There's a huge difference between using poo bags to pick up and safely dispose of dog poo which in itself can be harmful, and using them to unnecessarily bag up egg shells and cotton pads.

Surely you can understand that without it driving you nuts?
