To be bored of mummy youtubers/instagrammers

We just had a new kitchen!"
"We've just had an extension done!"
"We're taking the kids to Disney land!"

Rich and unrelateable. I find them all really boring, yet laughably I find myself sucked into those cleaning my big posh house videos. I would love to watch a mummy youtuber or instagrammer that had videos such as "making £400 last a whole month" or "taking the kids out for the day for under a tenner" Those would be genuinely helpful. Does anyone know of any? Or am I the only person feeling this way 🤪

Yep. Got bored - deleted them all, and insta actually. Try it, it’s so much better on this side of the fence!

SachaStark · 04/07/2019 21:04

I’d recommend finding a different niche on YouTube, as they’re not going to get any better, or more relatable, I’m afraid!

When I started watching YouTube regularly 6 years ago, I started out with the generic Brit crew “vloggers”, before quickly realising I had little in common with them, and they bored me to tears!

I scoped around for YouTubers with similar interests to mine instead. I now exclusively watch BookTube, interior design and DIY videos, minimalist videos, and some film reviews/skit channels. Maybe you should try some different areas of YouTube instead?

TenAndFive · 04/07/2019 21:05

YABU - I like to see others enjoying their lives.

Haworthia · 04/07/2019 21:07

Some accounts are just a case of watching already rich and privileged people get even more rich via ads and “paid partnerships”, and richer still by not having to pay for holidays and bathroom renovations.

Come to the Tattle forums - lots of like minded souls there Wink

missmouse101 · 04/07/2019 21:08

I watch guinea pig videos on you tube...much better!

Itsautumn · 04/07/2019 21:33

Totally agree. Boring and repetitive. One long advert. Over the top consumerism. I deleted all the insta mums and now only follow close friends. I don’t miss them!

thefavourite · 04/07/2019 21:35

I've never watched anything on Instagram, it's not compulsory! Just do something else!

PawsForPizza · 04/07/2019 21:51

Tattle is fucking scum

VivienneHolt · 04/07/2019 21:55

I really recommend Holly Bell (@recipesfromanormalmum) on Instagram and Facebook. She’s not at all of the instamummy clique; she’s very candid (but discreet) about life after divorce, she posts great recipes, she just seems like a hugely sensible and honest person without artifice. I’ve liked her since she was on bake off years ago, but I really think she has come into her own in the last couple of years.

Haworthia · 04/07/2019 22:22

I agree that Holly is fantastic. I ordered from her brownie shop too, and they were incredible.

Tattle is fucking scum

Hi Clemmie!

Leobynature · 04/07/2019 22:32

Yep, I completely agree. I use to watch brummy mummy 2 (or something) she became more commercialised when her followers went up. It put me off.
I realised how unhelpful and unrelatable following particular Youtubers can be. When I was pregnant and hormonal, I couldn’t afford a sleep pod at the time (all the pregnant Youtubers were raving about it) I became convinced my baby was going to die of SIDS. I felt completely inadequate.
I have unsubscribe to every mum on YouTube and mainly follow my interests now. Much better for my mental health I think

digdug · 04/07/2019 22:43

Hi Clemmie!

Op, search for the previous instamum / mum blogger threads on here. Tattle contains the stuff that gets censored on here.

plinkyblonk · 04/07/2019 23:01

Yep agree! It makes me feel inadequate on so many levels as a parent, employee, partner and as an individual. Going on insta and Facebook seeing everyone boasting about how fab life their life is and posting pics of new cars, homes and promotions etc I deleted them both and it's the best thing I did.
I found my mental health much better since dejecting these. Went back on facebook for to get info about an event and had a wee scroll and could feel all the bad feelings coming back.
I know my life's not on an even keel right or but I don't have to subject myself to looking at how everyone has got everything sussed.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 04/07/2019 23:04

Just delete.

The only social media type thing I have now is mn and I'm way happier for it.

PerfectPeony2 · 04/07/2019 23:06

Stop following them and just follow your normal Mum friends instead?

LadyRannaldini · 05/07/2019 07:36

An old lady question but why does anyone get so enthralled by the lives of total strangers, don't they have their own friends? I can understand looking on Youtube to find out how to do something, those can be very helpful, and the Downfall parodies are often very funny but vaccuous strangers, no thanks.

FcknHellAlan · 05/07/2019 07:43

I agree with Lady, always struck me as v boring subject matter!

NCforthis2019 · 05/07/2019 07:45

Jesus - just don’t watch this shit then!!

getmeacupoftea · 05/07/2019 07:50

"*Don't watch this shit then!"
Wow thanks so much, hadn't thought of that. 🤪 I'm only looking for suggestions, no need to be rude

Where do you come across these 'yummy youtubers'? They are only in your life because you let them. I never watch that shit.

DonkeyHohtay · 05/07/2019 08:10

Why do you watch them? I dint use instagram and have no interest in "mummy bloggers". Really easy to avoid.

user87382294757 · 05/07/2019 08:36

Yes i mean I guess you have to go on and search for them so it is a choice to watch them in the first place!
