Following on from the working mother thread AIBU to share our biggest maternal fails.
Happy to start.

Sending my kids to school for World Book Day dressed as Dennis the Menace and Paddington Bear (complete with face paint)- a day early.

Tied and brain foggy after having my first baby and trying to clean around a bit before midwife visit ended with me wiping the baby’s face with a Flash wipe! I didn’t realise until I picked him up for a cuddle and wondered why he smelled of lemons. I cried. He was fine 😳

daisyboocantoo · 04/07/2019 15:13

Oh, I could write a book on these. Today is DS birthday and I am making his cake for tomorrow instead. Forgetting everything in the school calendars to the point where teachers text me to remind me. Dropping DD at wrong sports centre for a party. Forgetting swimming competitions.

I swear, I am only here to make the rest of you parents look good.

Birthday party for 5 yr olds in an indoor adventure playground type place. Small boy tries to come in to our meal area, didn't seem to know DS, none of the other kids paid him any attention so I chivvied him away - turns out he was one of ours, and I sent him away from the party with no tea. Went round to his house with an extra special goody bag to say sorry, but I don't think his parents ever forgave me.

My DM sent me to school with full-blown mumps. She hadn't noticed I looked a little different.

@MonnieMoo sorry that made me laugh!
I know the tired and foggy brained feeling, when my baby was a week old I was doing a night feed. Baby finished the bottle REALLY fast. Then I realised that when making the bottle, instead of putting the four scoops of baby formula into 4 oz of water, I had put it into a bottle with two ounces of leftover milk from his previous feed. He was fine though, didn't get a sick tummy (as Google advised me he would)

Turning up with my 6 yr old son at 9am only to discover it was an inset day.

Embracethechaos · 04/07/2019 15:41

At a friend's house, I took off and cleaned baby but forgot to put a new nappy on.

gracepoolesrum · 04/07/2019 15:41

@Cantthinkofausername1990 I had a routine of making baby's bottle and a cup of tea for myself out of the same boiled kettle.

floribunda18 · 04/07/2019 15:42

Forgetting non-uniform day.

I don't think I sent DD1 to school with a bottle of water for ages, I just missed that memo and probably didn't do it regularly until Y1, when she asked me. They had milk at break, a drink at lunch and access to a water fountain so I didn't think anything of it.

gracepoolesrum · 04/07/2019 15:43

Sorry posted too soon! One night I gave baby bottle, thinking it was a bit cool but it was a cold night. Went downstairs to cold cup of tea, realised kettle had never boiled, I'd effectively just made the formula with cold tap waterBlush No I'll effects suffered here either!

RedSheep73 · 04/07/2019 15:44

I've fallen asleep and missed picking them up from school, that was pretty bad...

sotired2 · 04/07/2019 15:48

forgetting to pick dd up
dropping her off at a party an hour early
dropping her off at school for breakfast club only to be called 1/2 way to work that it was a training day
sending in multiple times either dressed up or not on the wrong day
not getting a birthday cake, wasnt allowed to forget for a whole year
putting a bottle in microwave to heat for 1 min not reslising had pressed 10 mins
the list goes on

Cupcakey · 04/07/2019 15:48

Lack of sleep and like a zombie carried daughter in to butchers in car seat plonked her down while I bought sausages and paid. Merrily walked out forgetting my child! Got about 5 shops down before I remembered.... I think I was still adjusting to the fact I was a parent ConfusedBlush

Sexyfothermucker · 04/07/2019 15:56

Putting my ds2 in a the car seat and not realising I hadn't strapped him in till we were half way home.

Not closing the baby gate and letting ds2 fall down a flight of stairs.

Forgetting dress up day for ds2

Not my but dh. Sleep deprived doing a night feed, smacked ds2 head against the door frame.

Managed to lock ds1 in the conservatory while I went up and dried my hair. When I came back down he was busted and had wet himself.

I'll phone social services myself Confused

Sexyfothermucker · 04/07/2019 15:57

Hysterical not busted Hmm
