My big outdoor bin (green here but yours might be a different colour).

It was GRIM! It absolutely stank and was full of stuff I don't even want to think about 🤢🤮

I've been avoiding it for a while months while I tried desperately to find someone I could pay to do it for me! Apparently that's not a thing where I live Hmm

No point to this post really except DH is at work so I've no one to tell how traumatic it was Grin

Thanks!

Well done you. I will have to do mine as there was a massive dead rat in our road which I had to scoop, bag and chuck in there. Just thinking about it makes me want to heave. It will get a good cleaning out next week.

Atalune · 04/07/2019 11:11

Oh god.

I couldn’t.

user1474894224 · 04/07/2019 11:15

Job opportunity in your area I think... Mobile green bin cleaner....well done. I don't really bother. We wrap food in newspaper if there is no cut grass to soak up the uck. It really helps it not get too bad.

SuperSange · 04/07/2019 11:19

There are a couple of people who Ofer this service where I live and they're always busy. Gap in the market for you!

whoami24601 · 04/07/2019 11:54

🤮 no way! You couldn't pay me enough to do that for someone else!

OP posts:
Evibella · 04/07/2019 11:58

😭 I did mine and there were maggots in it and I want to say bread (but not bread anymore) 😭 I feel the trauma, I used a rag of a stick to get the bottom 🤮 borkkkkkkkkkkkk

whoami24601 · 04/07/2019 12:14

There were maggots in mine too. I didn't want to admit to that incase I got told I was disgusting Grin

Several buckets of bleach, yard broom, wheel it out to the main drain and tip it out.

that25cUKHeatwaveof2019 · 04/07/2019 12:24

You are amazing.

I pay someone to clean all my outside bins, so I am not being sarcastic, I am impressed!

The80sweregreat · 04/07/2019 12:40

My 'clean a bin man 'is overloaded with work and been doing this job for years.
There are a few around that offer this service. It's worth it for a lovely clean bin once a month. Otherwise it would be me with sticks and hoses trying to clean it out!

Readytogogogo · 04/07/2019 12:42

Well done! You're a better person than me. Time for a Brew.

CremeEggThief · 04/07/2019 12:45

Well done!
I have never cleaned a wheelie bin (in any of the rented houses I've lived in) in my life.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 04/07/2019 12:48

I love cleaning my wheelie bin Blush

I’m currently waiting for the bin men to come so I can get out and get it scrubbed. It’s never that dirty as I do it every fortnight and use wheelie bin liners.

ChocolateTeardrops · 04/07/2019 12:48

OH will power wash ours once in a while. Once he gets that power washer going he will wash everything that doesn't move! Grin

florriepeck · 04/07/2019 12:48

Use a wheelie bin liner.
No need for any cleaning at all.

Walnutwhipster · 04/07/2019 12:49

I pay £3.50 a month for someone else to clean mine. I couldn't cope with doing it.

Instagran · 04/07/2019 12:52

I pay £2 a fortnight for someone to come and clean mine. Money well spent!

Pinkprincess1978 · 04/07/2019 13:00

Well Done!

Ours needs doing too except bin day is a Tuesday and I'm busy on a Tuesday night and usually by Wednesday it has things in.., that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 04/07/2019 13:05

Bin men are here! Grin

x2boys · 04/07/2019 13:26

Do you only have one bin ? We have four of the fuckers, one for cardboard and paper, one for plastic, glass and tins ,one for garden waste and a "slim bin" for general waste Hmm

Juells · 04/07/2019 13:27

Does whoever collects your bins provide a bin-cleaning service? About once a month I get a text on a Wed (bins collected Thurs) saying if I need bin cleaned to have it emptied the following day, then leave outside on Friday. A big lorry comes around with some kind of power washer. It costs €10, I've never had it done because €10 Grin

Shurely (hic) there's someone providing this service?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 04/07/2019 14:13

There used to be a van round here that followed the bin lorry around and washed out the bins of those who had booked the service straight after they were emptied. Haven’t seen them in ages though so maybe it wasn’t as lucrative as they thought it would be. I think it was £2 a bin.

whothedaddy · 04/07/2019 15:37

well done you. I had an amazon delivery yesterday and the courier left it in the Green (ours are brown) bin- yuk!

YesQueen · 04/07/2019 15:39

My neighbour does mine Grin he power washes it out and then puts zoflora in it

LimitIsUp · 04/07/2019 15:46

Blimey - it's not that bad. Significantly less icky than cleaning the loo imo.

Just fill with water from the hose and some washing up liquid and scrub with a yard brush. You don't have to touch anything unpleasant
