The guy is completely out of touch ....and I know I'm unreasonable for posting this here. But people need to wake up to what's happening.

I think he polarises opinion I’m the same way that Corbyn does to the left.

Neither have any appeal to that middle 40% that win parties elections. All very odd

Makes a big difference whether the reference to oppidan was made to an audience he could expect to understand it (eg at Eton) v some random place.

You could also maybe argue that at least he isn't 'talking down' to people.

It's in a Spectator article. So audience context yes, but does rather show how he thinks.....still in the school boy mindset.

Or an educated person who happily uses Latin words as and when they seem appropriate?

In the same way that I might use quid pro quo, per se, QED, or ergo?
