Am I a 40-odd year old dinosaur (f/b related!)?

In a conversation, friend A told me she was quite shocked by some of the things friend B is sharing on facebook ie very personal things about her own young children (think medical conditions, family revelations).

I said I wasn't a facebook friend to B so couldn't see what they posted, but was told that they had been publicly posted so anyone can view them. I had a look and was also shocked and felt sad for the kids, this is personal information about them and I think they should be able to choose who they share it with.

I could sort of understand if it was shared amongst friends (although still would be a big no no for me) but publicly feels wrong to me.

That said I rarely post anything on f/b and particularly not about my children, the very occasional family holiday pic only, never anything embarrassing or personal and maybe I am just of kilter with what is 'normal' these days?

Well could you send your friend a message asking if she is aware she is posting these details publically?

I honestly think people forget how Facebook works sometimes!!

Hmmm maybe, I have done that myself! Regardless, was more interested in what the general view is...

She may not realise they are public but also some people seem to lose all common sense when it comes to social media.
