Need some urgent advice. An organisatuon I would love to work for has two vacancies. I LOVE the work this company does. One role is management and the other an assistant. I have applied for the management role - I have the relevant experience and meet all the requirements on the person spec. But I've had a couple of years off on extended parental leave. Should I contact the company and ask them if I they aren't going to consider me for the management post could I be considered for the assistant manager post.... Or is that weird and defeatist. I really want to work for them.

Same deadline for applications?

TulipsTwoLips · 03/07/2019 11:02

Now you have applied for one I think you should stick to it. I’m not sure they wife hire you as an assistant knowing you think you have the ability to be the manager already.

Would not wife

Defeatist. Go for the manager role. If they really like you but don’t think you’re a fit for the manager role they might discuss the other role as a possibility then.

I went for a manager role that I was under qualified for, got an interview, was offered assistant manager and got the manager job less than a year later when the manager quit!

Yip. OK. You are confirming my suspicious. Fingers crossed.
