...to do babysitting?

Do people still use babysitters?! I did it when I was about 16, so 20(!!) years ago. Watching telly, keeping an eye on the kids. It was easy money!

I've got free evenings, and no kids of my own. I'm responsible, sensible and frankly, I could use the cash! But am I too old?! Would it be weird?

Yes why not? I used to use the 16 year old girl from up the street. But most babysitters are hired by word of mouth. Do you know anyone with kids who would use you then recommend you to their friends? Are you going to do it £5/hour or whatever the going rate is?

You can do this in hotels aswell.

God I wish you lived near me. We're unable to ask both sets of grandparents at the mo, no other family or friends we can ask/able to do it/have their own young kids and nursery staff are not allowed to babysit in their spare time according to their contracts. I've been looking on childcare.co.uk etc but feel uncomfortable literally picking a stranger at random. At least if you were my neighbour etc and seemed decent enough I'd have some level of trust! Really want an evening with my husband toddler free!

Try sitters both as a babysitter and parent. You need to be checked and probably have first aid things, but can recommend them as a parent too. You pay a quarterly fee, booking fee and then the sitter direct.
