Some of my friends do this and I just think 'WHY?'

AIBU?

DH is doing it right now and I can hear them giggling together.

DS has eczema and the GP says the latest research is that daily bathing is actually good as long as there is emollient in the water and you moisturise immediately when they're out of the water.

fishnugget · 02/07/2019 19:09

They don't get that messy when eating! A full coverall and a flannel down afterwards.

Totally agree with Ay

Loved mine all clean in fresh pjs.
It was part of their routine and they zonked out and slept well.
Plus that school smell 🤢

Ah, yours obviously doesn't rub food in his thick, curly hair... Lucky you!

fishnugget · 02/07/2019 19:11

What's the school smell? We haven't got that old yet?

Fair enough!

I do because she enjoys it and it takes her longer to go to sleep when she hasn’t had a bath.

Passthecherrycoke · 02/07/2019 19:14

Nursery smell too!

User8888888 · 02/07/2019 19:14

Toddlers are generally mucky and enjoy baths so yes I think bathing most nights is very necessary. Mine certainly could never come home from nursery and not have a bath.

Sockworkshop · 02/07/2019 19:15

Ugh they smell of school 😂
Not sure what it is but I cant stand it .
It was always a lovely fun time for us and I think clean children is the best smell in the world .
All the cant be bothereds -how sad is that .

BitchPeas · 02/07/2019 19:17

Greaterthan not bathing your child for 2 weeks is gross and bordering on neglectful. Do they do nothing but sit all day? How are they not utterly filthy by then?

BalloonDinosaur · 02/07/2019 19:17

Meh, totally personal choice I think.

We do, partly cos he's a messy eater/loves playing in dirt and party because we always have so I guess it's as much routine for us as for him.

DS (2) also runs hot like me, especially in the summer so a bath helps cool him off before bed too.

MamaFlintstone · 02/07/2019 19:17

We do every other or every 3rd day, unless she’s got really dirty. Or is all sticky from suncream (like every day after nursery at the moment)

BalloonDinosaur · 02/07/2019 19:18

Oh, and he loves baths, so that plays a part too.

Expressedways · 02/07/2019 19:21

Mine hates the bath but we still do every other day as she’s just so grubby, especially this time of year with sticky suncream and playing outside.

Itsagrandoldteam · 02/07/2019 19:22

I never bathed mine every night, in fact I was told not to by a GP. My DS developed a bit of dry skin on the inside of his elbows, she said to stop bathing him every night, switched to 2/3 times a week and the dry skin went away.
Obviously if they are dirty or covered in sun cream, but mine seemed to get dirty every day.

M0reGinPlease · 02/07/2019 19:22

Do people seriously only bathe their child once a week?! Grim.

Mine has a bath probably five nights a week usually. She swims one morning so no bath that night and usually one other night we just have a wash. Tending to bathe every night at mo though as PP's have said- suncream, sand and garden dirt.

Moanger · 02/07/2019 19:24

Did with the first until she got terrible eczema and was told to not bathe so often. We do 2 or 3 a week in winter, more in summer if they’ve had sun cream on or they’ve got mucky playing out. We give them a wipe round with a flannel though.

Itsagrandoldteam · 02/07/2019 19:24

** should say never seemed to get dirty every day.

NotSoThinLizzy · 02/07/2019 19:27

We do baths in the middle of the day as it makes DS very hyper every 2-3 days. Hes not a messy eater but has some bad eczema so cant do it every day

TillyTheTiger · 02/07/2019 19:27

I bath my 3yo daily because he loves playing outside so he's always covered in mud, sand, dirt, grass, suncream or sweat.

Plus bathtime is one of the highlights of his day, he loves splashing in the water and playing with his boats and it's a nice way to wind down for bed.

Riceandthings · 02/07/2019 19:29

They're knackered by bathing their toddlerit takes like 15 minutes

When you are a lone parent with no help at all, and you have been out of the house for 10 hours a day, commuting & working, it can be knackering!

pointbla · 02/07/2019 19:29

Definitely every single day. A shower not a bath. They get sweaty, wear nappies and get dirty with eating and playing etc. Part of good hygiene .

Tiredtessy · 02/07/2019 19:29

My toddler was filthy after nursery and sun tan lotion and food etc and all the wipe residue on their bits and bums is just gross so always gave him a bath but didn’t find it stressful

Foxglove18 · 02/07/2019 19:31

We bathe DS when he looks grubby. Sometimes that’s daily, sometimes it’s twice per week.
