the old black at weddings dilemma

OK I've already bought the dress and wedding this this weekend so I just need you all to tell me it'll be fine!
It's a very nice black dress with a brightly coloured chiffon overlay (pink/plum). It's actually really nice even though it sounds grim from what I've written! It's clearly meant to be worn to wedding/races etc, very smart. With accessories the colour of the overlay.
Also, is it ok not to wear tights, or do I have to. Civil ceremony in nice country hotel.
Thanks in advance

Sounds lovely to me. I have no problem with black at a wedding, just accessorise with colours. But if your dress already has a coloured overlay, you'll be fine.

How long is the dress? I'd say no tights should be OK in this weather, as long as it's not a minidress!

Thanks - correct answer! Yes dress is below the knee, sort of a short calf length

This is an old tradition that I'm glad to see has died! Every wedding I attend these days I see people wearing black and so they should, it's a complementary colour for a lot of women and comes with a low risk of clashing with the bridal party. No tights is totally fine too, in this weather I'd be concerned for you if I saw you show up in tights.

I always wear black to weddings. I wore black to my own wedding!
