Because they don’t have any curtains just shit vertical blinds. It’s so light in the bedrooms kids didn’t get to sleep til after 10 and woke at 5 (usually 7:30- 7:45 like clockwork) everyone will be tired and grumpy, I’m already tired and grumpy.

So, Aibu to leave Instead of staying tonight as planned?

What about a gro blind? £20 and you can keep it for other travel emergencies!

Obvs that's not helping just now, but it would save the rest of your break away.

soulrunner · 02/07/2019 06:11

Just buy some bin bags and sellotape and tape over the windows?

XXVaginaAndAUterus · 02/07/2019 06:13

It's not really an AIBU, just stay or don't stay whatever works for you! Why not contact the owners and ask if there is anything they have or can do? Even if there isn't, it's alerted then to a problem they could choose to resolve for future guests.

luckygreeneyes · 02/07/2019 06:15

I’ve messaged the owners, no reply yet. Guess my aibu is more - to cut our holiday short because I can’t face another 5am wake up?

Windows too big for geo blinds, bin bags a good idea though

Bin liners and some tape. If it’s warm, tin foil shiny side out.

VivienneHolt · 02/07/2019 06:17

Only you know what you can live with. I would be using a bin bag or a towel though myself.

luckygreeneyes · 02/07/2019 06:19

Glad I asked, I thought of towel but no rail to hang on. Will give bin bags a go, now for the zoo while shattered...

Do the windows open? If so I've successfully blocked out light in the past by shutting a large towel or a duvet in the top of the window. When the towel wasn't long enough I stood the mattress up to block out the lower part (this was a twin room back when one of the kids was still in a travel cot).

It's shit when this happens, isn't it? Either the owners have blackout eyelids or they've never tried to sleep in their property in the summer.

Rolypolybabies · 02/07/2019 06:31

But tin foil. It will stick on the window with a bit of water. Instant blackout. I always take a roll on holiday.

May look to neighbours like something suspicious is growing... But who cares if you get sleep!

Enjoy the zoo

thisusernameun · 02/07/2019 06:39

Second the tin foil. Dampen the glass and it sticks on.Amazing black out. We always go on holiday with a roll

Nectarines · 02/07/2019 07:31

Careful with the foil. I’ve just seen a post on fb where a lady is not getting her deposit back because the foil left marks on the windows.

luckygreeneyes · 02/07/2019 18:01

Back armed with bin bags and blue tack- fingers crossed!
