I've never seen one before!? Looks like some sort of mite.

Harvest mite. Very common.

Polomintini · 01/07/2019 21:43

Looks like a bed bug

Bloatedbetty · 01/07/2019 21:44

Bed bug?

MountainPeakGeek · 01/07/2019 21:45

I'd say a bedbug too Sad

Bezalelle · 01/07/2019 21:47

It's fucking grim, that's what it is.

It was in my little girls cot but we both have new mattresses and it's the only one I've found. No bites or anything.

@Cherrysoup if it is a harvest mite, I take it they are harmless?

OP posts:
FrankiesKnuckle · 01/07/2019 21:56

Where did you find it?

I'd say bed bug. Be prepared for a costly cleanse if so.....

FrankiesKnuckle · 01/07/2019 22:00

Bed bugs don't only live in mattresses, sorry.

They can live in the walls, skirtings and bed frames.

I say this from bitter experience obviously, and I never noticed bites.

Not saying that I wasn't bitten but I don't tend to react to bites anyway.

AlwaysSkint · 01/07/2019 22:01

@FrankiesKnuckle on top of my little girls blanket in her cot 😭. I've checked over the mattresses and there doesn't appear to be anymore.. I hope not, I'm too poor 😭😭

OP posts:
AlwaysSkint · 01/07/2019 22:06

How do I know if I've got them? It's the only bug I can find!

OP posts:
FrankiesKnuckle · 01/07/2019 22:11

Check in the bed frame, and around the headboard in all the corners, any little nook or cranny really.

Bloatedbetty · 01/07/2019 22:11

Is it dead or alive?

AlwaysSkint · 01/07/2019 22:15

@Bloatedbetty it wasn't dead, it is now!

OP posts:
AlwaysSkint · 01/07/2019 22:19

@FrankiesKnuckle I have but there is no obvious sign.. Sad

OP posts:
Bloatedbetty · 01/07/2019 22:22

If you can’t find any others or evidence of them (bites)you may be lucky and could’ve picked it up from somewhere on your travels. I hope so for your sake Flowers

Singlenotsingle · 01/07/2019 22:24

Looks like a flea. Have you got cats?

AlwaysSkint · 01/07/2019 22:25

@Bloatedbetty me too, I'll keep an eye out. Will I have to get rid of my furniture? All her nursery furniture is lovely and new (not cheap either)!

I was researching bed bugs and getting rid of them and came across bat bugs.. could it be one of those?

AlwaysSkint · 01/07/2019 22:26

@Singlenotsingle nope no pets or garden Sad

OP posts:
Pieceofpurplesky · 01/07/2019 22:59

Pull back the edge of the mattress. If it is a new mattress that is infected you need to report back to the shop

AlwaysSkint · 01/07/2019 23:08

@Pieceofpurplesky mattress is clear

LoHe19 · 01/07/2019 23:10

Have you been drying any washing or clothes on the line in the nice weather? If so could it be an outside bug and not bed bug as some are suggesting? We dried our sheets on the line on Thursday and they came in covered in critters! I was not impressed

VivienneHolt · 01/07/2019 23:16

If it’s the only one you can find it’s likely you just brought in one from outside.

Ohyesiam · 01/07/2019 23:18

It looks like a red spider mite, our hens get them occasionally.
