AIBU to ask about how to switch mobile phone deals to different providers?

Hi all,

Sorry to ask such a boring question but can I ask for your advice on switching mobile phone deals?

I took out a contract with EE last autumn on my phone, and pay £30 for unlimited texts and minutes and 10GB of data.

I’ve read in the paper that, from tomorrow, anyone not happy with their current mobile phone contract can contact their provider to let them know and switch to a new provider the next day.

Has anyone switched? I’m not sure how to go about it and worried about making a mistake, but fed up of paying £30 as I feel I could get a cheaper deal elsewhere.

Please advise!

Gosh, I pay £61 a month for EE, was thinking of changing as so expensive, didn’t know you could get one for so cheap with EE lol

Wow Charlie! What do you get for £61? Are you on contract or SIM-only?

Do you know how to change? I’m not completely sure so wanted to check on here to see how people had gone about doing it.

I assume you're paying for a phone? I buy a phone, use sim only deals, cost generally around £10-15 a month. I've switched quite a lot over the last year as I've tried the four network providers to see which was best

You'll still be in contact so you'll have to pay a huge payment to get out of it. The new switching by text is only of use if your contract is at an end

Oh I see - I thought I could switch contract even if I’m still paying for my phone, but I understand now I can only switch on a SIM-only deal. Thanks!
