in response to post of the day, who is clearly a dick, white 42 year old cambridge graduate working at a university, who still was bouncing round my living room to Stormzy.

Stick your stereotypes up your arse.

Cassort · 29/06/2019 00:16

anyone got a link to him at Glastonbury?

murasaki · 29/06/2019 00:19

does this work?

KitKatKit · 29/06/2019 00:20

@murasaki slow clap for you my friend.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 29/06/2019 00:30

I like him. I’m a bit of a Godder myself though. I find Blinded by your grace genuinely moving.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/06/2019 00:31

He is amazeballs.

romeoonthebalcony · 29/06/2019 00:34

"it's not music" is what the oldies said about punk back in the day. Oh if I had a Pound for every teacher, parent, etc etc who had said that to me....
He's apologised for the homophobic tweets he made in his teens I believe? He's allowed to mature and grow up isn't he?
As for lyrics about cumming on a girl's face - horrible but these youngsters grew up with porn that has normalised all of this and we as oldies did not protect them from it. I hope he'll come to apologise for that too as he matures further and understands the damage that the normalisaion of aggressive sex does

babysharkah · 29/06/2019 00:36

I've just been through FHC with DTs. They sing blinded by your grace in mass. It's beautiful. Outing myself but my husband taught stormzy, mnek and Rae black. They're all great.

RNBrie · 29/06/2019 00:37

I didn't understand the music either but liked the flow and the clever lyrics. I read up on the history of grime and the culture, stormzy's book is really interesting about how he built his brand. I think he's amazing, he has a voice and he's using it (mostly) as a force for good. I hope he goes really far.

giggly · 29/06/2019 00:39

Pull your fucking trousers up stormzy I’ve seen enough of your arse crack (albeit firm and round Blush)

AquaPris · 29/06/2019 01:14

He wrote a song about Grenfell which raised a lot of money and is very vocal about the inquest. He is a wonderful man who takes great interest in his community and is great for its young people.

He's also the second youngest ever solo Glastonbury headliner (one year older than David Bowie was).

He is a wonderful man... and I like grime, but I am 24.

AquaPris · 29/06/2019 01:27

Ffs it is music, it is beautiful because it is raw and angry and full of the emotion many of his contemporaries are feeling or have felt. He grew up around knives and violence and gangs.

It's what punk, rap and even rock did at one time. It's the anger and desperation of disadvantaged youth.

GreenDragon75 · 29/06/2019 03:02

The genre isn’t my cup of tea at all but I really like Stormzy. I listen to his music quite a lot around dcs and have started to ask for it now. I was out last night so not seen it yet but he is a perfect headliner. Very current.

managedmis · 29/06/2019 03:04

Who's this fella now?

user1471453601 · 29/06/2019 03:21

Wow, I've just read on BBC news feed, that Stormzy is the first British black man to headline there. Is that true?

I recall j JZay headlining (who can forget his take on Wonderwall?). But really? Is Stormzy the first black British man? If he is, good on him.

As I've said earlier, not too keen on his God bothering stuff, but otherwise, I love his music and his social responsibility

Decormad38 · 29/06/2019 03:23

I'm 52 and I managed to include his lyrics in my Masters dissertation.

placemats · 29/06/2019 06:41

Well I think he's gorgeous and he's a beautiful singer as well. I love his music.

If only I were younger! I don't do beards but his is acceptable.

I also loved Jorja and her fantastic pant suit.

TheBigBallOfOil · 29/06/2019 06:48

I like some of his music, loathe his politics. If he’s against racism then he needs to disassociate from Corbyn. I know he wasn’t a great success at school and regrets that, but I’m sure he knows the history of The holocaust and it’s just not ok to ignore anti semitism.

QueenBeee · 29/06/2019 06:55

The stab vest is making a big statement.
I think he is quite religious which might explain his homophobic comments as a teen.

BullBullBull · 29/06/2019 07:05

His music is shit. Watched Glastonbury all night up until he came on

Bezalelle · 29/06/2019 07:15

He's amazing.

Chartreuser · 29/06/2019 07:24

He was v successful at school, but left at l after 16 to pursue music. I think he is and saying incredibly important things, his press for young black writers is sorely needed.

I'm not the biggest fan of grime but it's not for me, do love blinded by your grace though.

I don't think it's for people like me to 'get' him or his music, but I can recognise he is genuinely out for good.

Plus he's from Croydon Grin and he is a force for good here

GoadyMcGoad · 29/06/2019 10:04

Im mid 40s, DC is 6. We have just watched it again and danced all the way through it.

We love most music, & have all sorts.

DC made a banner. "Yo Stormzy rocks" with a pic of him holding his mike.

I think he is blinding, he makes me feel happy. The energy is just what I need.

I read he is 6ft 5" & hates dancing because of it. He put in a bloody good effort.

hazeyjane · 29/06/2019 10:17

Songs about wanking over a woman's face in vossi bop. Nah. Not my cup of tea.
Oswin Yesterday 23:46
That was fab. I loved seeing how happy he was to have reached this point.

Perfect bit of posting, and at exactly the same time!!

3GreenFrogs · 29/06/2019 10:19

I don’t like that kind of music at all but I’m currently at Glastonbury and thought i best make the effort to see him. He was amazing! He put on an excellent show and oh my god is the man hot 😍😍
I think sometimes you can say you don’t like a certain artists music but can appreciate their talent and performance. I thought the same about Kanye West
