And he doesn't actually "sing", just talks fast and loud

Well, yes, he's a rapper 🤣

Threesoups · 28/06/2019 23:34

This is lovely. I really like that look on his face there - he's totally having a moment.

PondDream · 28/06/2019 23:35

he was on Graham Norton recently, came across as a decent guy too, and yep, another vote for hot... and I'm 54! Blush Grin

itscallednickingbentcoppers · 28/06/2019 23:36

That last song was a bit like an X factor final effort 😬

Sarcelle · 28/06/2019 23:36

Emperors New Clothes. Turn over to BBC 4, watch Tame Impala instead. New to me but very good.

ShinyMe · 28/06/2019 23:36

It's not the kind of music I'd buy and listen to, but as a live gig it seems really enjoyable. I've got a lot out of it tonight, and think being there would have been fun. And I'm not complaining about his trousers, he's got a nice arse.

Justanotherlurker · 28/06/2019 23:36

I thought he was too.........JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THE MUSIC.

Yeah, that's why its cringy

Lifeover · 28/06/2019 23:36

Can some young hip person tell me why he started his set wearing a stab vest

weebarra · 28/06/2019 23:37

I think he is putting on a great show. I like the music too, despite being 41, white and Scottish.
The Chris Martin duet was pish though.

Charley50 · 28/06/2019 23:38

Everyone saying they don't understand his music.. did rap, hip-hip, house, soul, drum and bass and jungle completely pass you by over the last few decades?!

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 28/06/2019 23:38

Pants falling down. Tsk

Tillygetsit · 28/06/2019 23:38

I love him and yes I definitely would!

Wrongdissection · 28/06/2019 23:38

If I had to guess re stab vest it’ll be a statement about young black males and knife crime.

weebarra · 28/06/2019 23:39

I suspect it was an allusion to the amount of deaths due to knife crimes at the moment. He also referenced Damilola Taylor in a previous song.

mbb1 · 28/06/2019 23:39

His beard is really, really nasty.

Threesoups · 28/06/2019 23:41

People saying they don't understand his music, have you all been living under a rock? I mean, I know it's developed a bit (faster, snappier, cleaner samples, more "noise elements" seems to me), but surely even people my age must remember public enemy, NWA etc? It's not like rapping is something that got invented last week.

cccameron · 28/06/2019 23:42

Have been wondering this myself. Bizarre. We're talking about the last 50 years FFS

Threesoups · 28/06/2019 23:42

Snap, Charley!

FunnysInLaJardin · 28/06/2019 23:42

I thought he was great tbh. A real stage presence.

I'm not a massive rap fan and so not hugely keen on the music, but he is a very good Glastonbury headliner.

I much prefer deep house and so loved it a few years ago when Disclosure played, but you can't please all the folk all the time.

I'm just glad I can watch it from my sofa and don't actually have to be there!

TheJellyBabyMadeMeDoIt · 28/06/2019 23:43

He is beautiful.

His music isn't my cup of tea.

My 15 yo daughter can sing /rap along to every one of his tunes though. So I think us oldies not knowing his music /understanding keeping up with the rap is how it should be.

Like when my grandad was appalled by Boy George or my dad was disgusted by Oasis existence. It's how it's supposed to be.

TokyoSushi · 28/06/2019 23:44

😍😍😍😍😍

IveNotSlept · 28/06/2019 23:44

I had to turn it off, it was just sweary noise. I’m very glad I didn’t manage to get tickets this year. Whatever happened to putting actual bands on as headliners, you know that play music rather than stand there swearing nonsense not even singing!!

Samcro · 28/06/2019 23:44

Justanotherlurker why? i have said that I get the appeal he has to his crowd.
I right from the start asked if it was an age thing.
i said I thought he was a headliner act (and he was hot) so are you calling me names?
its not my music, I admit that. but he is good

I'm into very middle of the road rock, pop music, nothing too extreme. Some may call it bland and it probably is, but I like it.

So rap etc didn't pass me by, I just didn't chose to listen to most of it. I do like soul music though and the very mainstream rap, hip-hop. Never got on board with Dub and garage maybe Craig David at a push.... I think he was garage back in the day)
