To think I haven't had £1700 of use from this car

Hoping for some opinions and if possible advice bit of a boring topic though sorry...

Bought a second hand car in January which broke down at the end of May. It's taken weeks to get an answer about what's wrong with it but turns out it isn't repairable and requires a whole new engine which would exceed the value. Car is ten years old.

I have been told through the dealership that the warranty company will offer me £2350 back towards a new car. I paid £4000 and I have done 1500 miles so not many since having it. I am scared I am being ripped off as it doesn't feel like a fair offer. They said they have to deduct costs for fair usage which I understand but it feels excessive.

I only had it four months... so AIBU in expecting more of a refund? I am reading online but hoping for tips from anyone whose been through similar or knows about these things.

Grateful for any thoughts Smile

Have u gone online and looked at what the car same age and mileage is worth?

Found some locally that seem to be about 3500 - 4000 so I wouldn't be able to buy another one with what they have offered me for a refund

Print those off and send them to the company

When I had my car written off my insurance company made me an offer and said if I wasn't happy to research and send it to them
