To stay at home/ in the garden when it's hot?

This weekend we all want to stay at home and do nothing. Kids have had a mega busy week at school with show performances in the evenings (DD) and class assembly (DS), late nights, not being able to sleep well as their bedrooms are so warm. Both are shattered, grumpy and high maintenance at the moment. A couple of friends have suggested going to the beach but the local motorway is closed so traffic will be awful.DS said loudly in the playground yesterday 'I just want to sit in my pants watching TV and eating ice lollies with a fan on me all weekend'. Have to say it sounds appealing! In the hot weather I can't be faffed trying to have a big day out. Happier mooching in the garden and round the house chilling out.

My plan for the weekend (well Saturday at least) is almost exactly the same as your DS! I'm making a special trip to the supermarket tomorrow to buy ice lollies for the occasion.

We haven't got a garden. I hate hot weather. I shall be spending Saturday inside with my AC unit on.

PerfectPeony2 · 27/06/2019 22:31

Sounds like a perfect weekend. I love being at home.

This weekend for us will probably be cold drinks, a yummy bbq, paddling pool for the baby and maybe a short walk if we get a bit cabin fevery.

You don’t need permission. Smile I hate that people can get a bit competitive with weekend plans!

YANBU

I'd much rather be at home than out somewhere busy in the heat all day. There's no rule saying you have to go out at the weekend just because the weather is nice! Enjoy :)

Your ds is a very wise young man!

GnomeDePlume · 27/06/2019 22:42

mynameiscalypso I started reading your second sentence and wondered if you would be making a special trip to the supermarket to buy pants for the occasion!

chickenfajitas73 · 27/06/2019 22:44

Exactly what we will be doing - don’t plan on going anywhere from getting home Friday until going to work/school run Monday !

StillCoughingandLaughing · 27/06/2019 22:46

Do it then Confused

mynameiscalypso · 27/06/2019 22:48

@GnomeDePlume Ha, I actually do need to go and buy some more pants tomorrow! 32 weeks pregnant and nothing fits...😂

You don't need permission.
Do whatever you want !

Day off today, lovely and sunny, so we went to the beach with the dogs and had a gentle stroll and got sunburned and then this afternoon had some culture at a gallery. But it was lovely to come home and slump on the sofa in front of the TV. So do whatever suits you best!

justaweeone · 27/06/2019 23:16

Not at all
We have a lovely garden that with the British weather we don't use that much, so we don't always want to drive to the coast. BBQ, Ice lollies and nice drinks and enjoy!

PickAChew · 27/06/2019 23:18

Sounds far enough.

dollydaydream114 · 27/06/2019 23:21

Er ... just do what you like? I don't understand why staying at home and relaxing in the garden, or indeed just pottering around the house, would be considered unreasonable by anyone. It's just a normal thing to do.

WeedsAndMoss · 27/06/2019 23:31

Totally. We have to build in collapse days like these as otherwise we end up really stressed out, as much as we love being out and about too!
