The words are just sooooo sad! My poor son must think I'm mad. It's his favourite song

You do know that song is about heroin addiction?

Marilynmansonsthermos · 27/06/2019 11:44

Of course I've heard the drug references but I think it was genuinely a song about the end of childhood imagination originally.

Actually I just looked it up there and it would appear that the writers always denied that it was about drugs and it was just an innocent song. I always liked it as a child but must have heard the drug references when i was older and it lost its appeal. Happy to know that it is as it seems.

I was taught this by my first primary school teacher nearly 50 years ago. I thought she was fantastic - played the guitar and everything!

Always brings a tear to my eye.

I basically cry at everything now. I was welling up at the theme tune to "my pet and me" this morning (cbeebies show where kids show how to look after a pet) 🙄
