When should I panic? Wedding 3 weeks away

My caterer isn't responding!

Total DIY job and we've booked and confirmed a food truck. I offered a deposit but they said none needed and they'll send me an invoice when I confirm numbers a month before.

I've been in contact a couple of times over the past few months to add extra requests such as a vegan option. I then emailed a week ago to say I had final numbers and to please send me an invoice.

I hadn't had a response so I followed up today and also left a voicemail on the mobile number on the email this morning (all communication been by email so far)

Me wedding is 3 weeks away, is this normal?! Am I being a bridezilla? When should I chase again?

Chase and then chase again! Also look at other options just in case!

SmellMySmellbow · 26/06/2019 19:36

Could they be at Glastonbury?

Geraniumpink · 26/06/2019 19:38

Look for other options just in case. My dh’s 40th was a near disaster because the pub we’d booked the event at had been taken over by new managers between the booking and the event. No one had told the new managers...

Swifey40 · 26/06/2019 19:42

Friends of ours have just had a similar thing, turned out that the caterer had gone bankrupt! Don't want to frighten you, but have a dig around!

DianaT1969 · 26/06/2019 19:55

Meet the caterer face to face.

5greenflowers · 26/06/2019 19:56

I'd be looking for a back up

Aquamarine1029 · 26/06/2019 19:58

I would NEVER trust a business that didn't want a deposit. That right there is a red flag. I would be looking for other providers and quickly.

startalovetrain · 26/06/2019 20:15

It's an established farm shop and restaurant that do events on the side, doubt it's Glastonbury based on distance.

I could always go to the farm shop but the website suggests it's different as it's a separate thing if that makes sense? Annoying as it's an hour drive but I'm starting to worry they've got a better offer!!

Oh no @geraniumpink did you sort it in the end?

Our venue doesn't even have any fridges or kitchen so I can't even do a last minute Costco sandwich dash!

Go to the farm shop. For the sake of an hour at least you'll get to speak to a person who will hopefully be able to tell you what's going on

MulticolourMophead · 26/06/2019 20:43

OP, try the farm shop first, they should at least be able to contact the relevant people if they can't sort things themselves.

If it's looking like you've got no catering, start checking out local businesses. Don't be afraid to try some that might be more expensive than you originally planned, some of them can come up with good deals. You need to get acting now, though.

MulticolourMophead · 26/06/2019 20:45

Oh, and if all else fails, maybe you can put out a request to borrow a fridge & freezer for your venue so you can do that Costco dash. Someone will be sympathetic to your plight.

Geraniumpink · 26/06/2019 22:03

It was fine - the new managers wonderfully took it all on and gave us a lovely meal on their opening weekend! We gave all the staff a massive tip!

DianaT1969 · 27/06/2019 05:15

If the venue lets you put fridges and freezers in, you can hire them from Lowe. National delivery coverage.
