To think this is a ridiculous place for a charity to beg...

Ugh! Need to rant. Stressful lunch hour!

So just been on my lunch break and I needed to get fuel on way back to office. All of the pump rows had a car at each of the two pumps, so I pick a queue, see the people leave their cars to go pay and I wait.

Five minutes pass, people in other queues come and go, I'm still sat there like a lemon, unable to move as the cars are building up behind me.

Eventually people behind me give up and pick other queues. The drivers still haven't come back to my queue, and now 10 minutes has passed.

So I manage to leave the queue and queue again, on next pumps and fill up.

Then as I head in to pay, I see the two drivers that I was waiting for deep in conversation with two charity chuggers, looking to get them to sign up to a direct debit. Hence the reason I was sat there like a twat for 10 minutes.

Now I get that charities need to raise funds, but surely doing so in the doors of a petrol station (especially during busy periods) is a ridiculous idea. AIBU?

The drivers should have been more sensible too and said ‘sorry I’m blocking the pump’

MyOpinionIsValid · 26/06/2019 14:22

The garage should have moved them from the forecourt

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 26/06/2019 14:23

That’s ridiculous! I’m amazed the petrol station gave them permission to do that.

I imagine the garage gave them permission to be there. They had tables set up and were in uniforms etc.

I think whoever at the garage who approved it / cane up with idea is an idiot! 😂

Yanbu, that’s obviously stupid!

Chugging is ridiculous anywhere tbh. Why should anyone give out their bank details in the street?

I particularly hate it on Villiers St, near Charing Cross. They are there every day, it's a busy street with loads of pedestrians and the odd vehicle going up and down, though it appears pedestrianised. I'm sure one day someone will be run over by a van while dodging a chugger.

Also the people that fill up with petrol, pop into the station and then wander round with a basket doing a fucking weekly shop!
Fill up then pull into a space rather than blocking the pump you utter twatwaffle.

Thanks for your votes. Intrigued to hear from the 3% YABUs out of interest. 😊
