spare trumpet and guitar we could borrow??

Ds5 has told his teacher that he would like to play an instrument for the leavers assembly! We thought oh nice, great job volunteering maybe playing the triangle?!; then he told us the rest....he is going to play the TRUMPET, apparently he is an expert trumpet player and he has HIS OWN trumpet at home; so the teacher just told him to bring it in. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just as I thought he was winding us up...his twin shouted ‘yeah mum he’s being real?!?! and I am playing the guitar and singing; I’ve to take my rock and roll guitar in too.’

“So your teacher has told you both to bring your instruments to school to play at the P7 leavers assembly? On Thursday?” “Did you tell your teacher it is plastic toy instruments???” “No” they both forgot 😳😳 so, at drop off this morning we find out they have “entered the talent contest?” Wow, wait a minute 😲✋🏼 TALENT CONTEST??? So they have actually entered a talent contest claiming to play the trumpet and guitar.

They are 100% serious! I may need to re-think my ‘you can be whatever you like’ boundaries 🤣🤣

They have been practicing....then tonight came the curve ball. ‘Mum I think I need an air guitar because my own one isn’t loud enough! there are going to be hundreds and hundreds of people and I want the ones at the back to hear me 🙈🙈 after attempting to explain that its invisible and not real - whilst being heckled by my 5 yr old boys to ‘prove it’ ‘how do you know it’s invisible?’

So now that guitar boy realises he isn’t getting an air guitar he will “just have a real one then”.......and then it came ‘yes mum, I want a real trumpet too’......and you need to get them delivered tomorrow ok? Wait....what? I’ve just to have a look 👀 on google and get their REAL instruments delivered tomorrow so that they can practise after school and be ready for Thursday? What do I do?? I actually checked out trumpets on amazon - almost £200 - no chance.....then I seen a trombone for £15 🤣🤣 and I did for a split second think that ‘I probably could convince him to play the trombone but then I thought sack this; I need to give someone else a giggle!

Oh the joy of life's limitless possibilities when you don't have to worry about life's practicalities... Lovely that your boys have such faith in your powers of procurement and that you are willing to be persuaded Grin

No help at all but my kids are now mostly adult and I MISS THIS! These days it's all "can you check my budget Mum" or "grandchild isn't well Mum".... at least grandchild means the days of random fairy costume at 2 am ready for tomorrow isn't a total thing of the past Grin

My son (6) is in the middle of an identity crisis as he’s convinced he’s Spider-Man, Michael Jackson and Sonic the Hedgehog all at the same time.

He spent most of the evening in a Fedora, in a Spidey costume trying to moonwalk in his ‘Sonic Shoes’.

We had to chat about how he’s only allowed to be these people at home as he gets told off for letting out the odd high pitched ‘hee-hee’ in class.

@LauderSyme 🤣

@Bufferingkisses I can totally understand how you miss it; kids are just brilliant aren’t they. Ha! My parents are the same; they take the boys once per month for a sleepover and absolutely love it.

@Merryoldgoat that is genius. Kids imaginations are just amazing. That’s some mash up! I love it!
