My daughter is 10 and does not have any social media but the majority have in her class. They have started to leave her out because she is just not interested in it. They also watch love Island. AIBU not to let her have it.

YANBU My 10yo isn't getting any apps on her phone either.

You're right. 10 is too young

Yanbu.
If it's anything like my dc's peer groups there's a silly stage where lots of them have it too young, bullying and meanness kicks off, the teachers read them and their parents the riot act. Phones are confiscated and supervised a lot more. And the novelty wears off.

I can guarantee that the majority do NOT have SM and watch Love Island. Some will, granted, because they have parents that give in for a quiet life. I bet your DD feels it's the "popular crowd" who have it, and she wants to be a part of it.

Hold out OP. Talk to your DD about why it's not a good idea, why SM can be harmful, why Love Island isn't appropriate. Ask her the names of the kids that watch it and I bet it'll be a handful at most. It's definitely not appropriate for 10yr olds, who should be heading for bed (if not actually in it) when Love Island is on.

Yanbu the age requirement is 13 for some SM, Love island I haven’t seen
