How are people not more outraged? And no, tourists do not visit the UK specifically because of the royal family.

"This year, 320,000 people were recorded as homeless in Britain"

@CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook
Well done you’ve got @Puzzledandpissedoff deal of approval.

savethecake · 30/06/2019 13:35

No because you’re not making any sense
Exactly my point, it doesn't make sense, a bit like your posts.

findingmyfeet12 · 30/06/2019 13:35

Yes, it's tragic that plebs are interested in a baby. Still doesn't make a newborn public property.

People could better spend their time worrying about Charles and his history of interfering in political matters. Far more concerning than an American perhaps making a mistake with protocol.

BertrandRussell · 30/06/2019 13:36

@Feelbad1 I agree. Meghan’s “crimes” are mainly that she is confident and articulate, she looks up and out and not down at her hands folded in her lap, she has used the “feminist” word about herself, she wants to centre women and girls in her charitable work, and she is “above herself” and “uppity”. Something no not completely white woman is allowed to be.

Ghanagirl · 30/06/2019 13:37

@savethecake

When Harry came out and announced the birth I was struck by his strange choice of words. He was clearly uncomfortable, he seemed shifty. Not one mention of the nurses or doctors in thanks. He talked of the "baby" but never his son. He was lying, it was so obvious.
All those protesting that people dislike her not because she’s mixed race this is an example of the ridiculous things said about her. The baby is not Prince Harry’s is one of the many conspiracy theories about her.

allibaby · 30/06/2019 13:38

@CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook
Thank you for a very reasoned and sensible post.

Jux · 30/06/2019 13:40

The heir's siblings do usually go through a rough patch with the press.

In the past, these people have been painted by the press, at various times, thusly:
Margaret as a drunken slut.
Anne, vilified at one point, loathed as a stuck up toff - now she's almost sainted.
Andrew was a dunce and Edward a wimp and a fool.

Now this generation - well, the only sibling of this generation! - is having his turn.

Wait a few years and we'll be loving them again.

My own view is that they're OK. I quite like MM. if we must have a Royal family, which it seems we must, this lot are alright. Brenda herself fulfills the role far better than we deserve; just look at our politicians if you want to see how well we choose our own leaders - best leave the Royals alone if that's the best we ourselves can do.

allibaby · 30/06/2019 13:41

Thank you @savethecake, I was being specific to a particular poster.

Just need approval from rosewhitetips and you can rejoice in knowing your place.

findingmyfeet12 · 30/06/2019 13:44

The queen's children also live in sprawling properties which they have not paid for with 9-5 jobs.

H&M seem to have been earmarked for a high profile public role. In that sense spending that kind of money converting such a large property into one house fit for a "royal" doesn't actually strike me as excessive or any different to other high profile royals.

The likes of the Daily Mail really do have a stranglehold on this country.

BertrandRussell · 30/06/2019 13:46

“He was clearly uncomfortable, he seemed shifty. Not one mention of the nurses or doctors in thanks. He talked of the "baby" but never his son. He was lying, it was so obvious.”
Bizarre. I thought the one thing absolutely everyone agreed on, regardless of point of view, was that this particular incident was charm
personified!

Ghanagirl · 30/06/2019 13:47

@allibaby
You do realise that @savethecake
thinks Meghan wasn’t pregnant and the baby isn’t Harry’s?

Ghanagirl · 30/06/2019 13:50

@BertrandRussell
The lengths that posters go to for a reason to hate Meghan and pretend it’s nothing to do with her race is baffling.
savethecake is coming across as slightly unhinged.

mrscampbellblackagain · 30/06/2019 13:53

Personally I wish she was more confident when out with Harry. The slightly odd double hand clutch thing she does on Harry's arm doesn't suggest super confident woman to me.

zonkin · 30/06/2019 13:53

@savethecake do you think what @Ghanagirl just posted?

Feelbad1 · 30/06/2019 13:54

it suggests a woman giddy in love

StillCoughingandLaughing · 30/06/2019 14:06

How long is "Archie" going to be protected from the "public gaze" and more to the point, why? Just tired of all this deception from the royals.

Why is “Archie” in “quote marks”? It’s his “name”.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/06/2019 14:07

conspiracy theorists and Tumblr types ... have found it now so it will be closed down soon

I'm not sure; maybe I'm deluding myself but I'm a bit more hopeful about this one staying on track since most have failed to rise to the goading, instead calmly calling it out for what it is

No doubt the attempts will start up again, but if we avoid engaging maybe we can go on enjoying a largely sensible discussion, without derailing? After all, isn't that what MNHQ ask us to do?

PineappleFwitters · 30/06/2019 14:07

@StillCoughingandLaughing because that poster is one of those conspiracy theorists who think the pregnancy was faked and Archie is a doll...

allibaby · 30/06/2019 14:11

@Ghanagirl unfortunately for you you're too transparent and it's now quite obvious that you're just trying to get the thread closed.
Its really rather pathetic Hmm

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/06/2019 14:13

People could better spend their time worrying about Charles and his history of interfering in political matters

Trust me, some of us do ... especially since it's arguably more important because (heaven help us) he's supposed to be our next monarch

Ghanagirl · 30/06/2019 14:14

@Puzzledandpissedoff
If saying that Meghan wasn’t really pregnant and Prince Harry’s not the father is
”sensible discussion” I beg to differ.

allibaby · 30/06/2019 14:14

@Ghanagirl yes I have read @savethecake posts and I very much disagree with her views.
However I thanked her for pointing out that when I said "you have a chip on your shoulder" I was being specific to you and not making a sweeping generalisation.

Ghanagirl · 30/06/2019 14:15

@allibaby
I don’t want the thread closed, I just want put my opinion across which is my right.

Bluestitch · 30/06/2019 14:17

You don't have the right to call people racists with no evidence at all beyond them not being fans of MM, or holding her to the same criticism they've also given others.
