Dodged a debate v Hunt last night but happily having an individual interview on BBC with Nick Ferrari, a supporter. So, no debate, no contest, just me me me me me. Yay democracy!

To be fair, Nick is making him squirm.

Nick Ferrari is giving him grief about the picture of him and Carrie in the papers today. He is squirming around not explaining when the pic was taken!
It's not started well.

Cheeserton · 25/06/2019 09:41

There's no 'democracy' in this just because there might be a debate. Us plebs get to choose precisely nothing here - it's a sick farce having TV debates at all.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 25/06/2019 09:42

Boris is a piece of human excrement.

He dodged the debate because the arrogant pisskipper knows he's already a shoe-in with enough votes from his party to not need to even pretend to care about what the public think of him.

IsabellaLinton · 25/06/2019 09:43

Not another Boris thread....

He doesn’t have to agree to a debate. And frankly, why would he bother? To the vast majority of people in the UK a debate will make no difference - they’re not party members and have no input.

The80sweregreat · 25/06/2019 09:45

Will the 160,000 people that can vote for the next PM all be listening in?
I guess a lot won't for many reasons or just scream ' media intrusion ' or' out to get him'

ForalltheSaints · 25/06/2019 09:46

Please do not compare Mr Johnson to human excrement. There is a valid purpose in the latter.

IsabellaLinton · 25/06/2019 09:47

He's already a shoe-in with enough votes from his party to not need to even pretend to care about what the public think of him.

Exactly, why bother?

I find it’s much better to be pessimistic and expect nothing from the rabble in Westminster. I don’t expect them to behave honestly or decently, so I’m never disappointed or disillusioned! Grin

The80sweregreat · 25/06/2019 09:55

A caller is calling him out on the London Bridge/ water canons affair and broken promises. He is good at wriggling out of things and blaming others as they all do!

ContinuityError · 25/06/2019 10:01

Just wait until Johnson finds out that every Wednesday the PM has to answer questions.

longwayoff · 25/06/2019 10:35

I was unfair to Nick Ferrari, he was far firmer than I expected him to be. I'm not expecting BJ to hang on to the job long enough for PMQ to matter. Even so, regardless of who gets to vote for Tory Leader, everyone should have an opportunity to evaluate the merits of the candidates, one of whom will shortly be foisted on to us all as PM. Refusing public debate is simply indicative of the contempt felt for the wider public by BJ.

So far Boris Johnson has been on the BBC debate last week, an interview with Laura Kuenssberg and is doing the conservative hustings.
The interview and call in on LBC was harder than I thought it would be. People saying his dodging debates are being a bit unfair here ; his going to have to do more admittedly, but he is out of 'hiding' now.
(Im not a fan by the way and I do not have a say in this , but I think the negative press so far will make them both more more visible as the weeks go on)

longwayoff · 25/06/2019 11:24

Individual interviews are not debates.
