Is it wrong to give a toddler a toy mobile phone?

It's like this www.argos.co.uk/product/2572062

My daughter went ape when I gave it to my toddler grandson? I felt she was overreacting.

Your daughter sounds like she overreacted. If I could find a similar one where I lived I'd buy my DS one like that so he'd stop trying to steal mine.
Kids want to be like their parents and like it or not, mobiles are a big part of adult life that little kids see and want to emulate.

Not wrong so much as pointless. No child in the history of children has ever been fooled by one of those. They know it's not the real deal Wink

My daughter has one similar, she loves it.

They love them and better that then the real ones although our dd now has the old handset from the landline that we disconnected.

I'm staunchly against giving kids real phones but I don't see the problem with giving them a toy one.
It's no different from giving them toy keys or a play kitchen really

Kids have been playing with toy phones for decades - what's the problem?
