Due to have another lot of laparoscopic surgery was told wait was max 6 months completely fine with that don’t mind waiting. But I haven’t received a date for surgery or pre op and I’ve only got 3 months to go should I ring and ask my clinic or just leave it

Only got 3 months to go til what? Confused

Last laparoscopy I had a call the week before to be operated on the next week. Surgery schedule is normally only done a couple of weeks before.

You will probably have a week or so notice not three months or more

Also it can be an average of six months to wait but if there are loads of emergencies then could be longer

Have you had a letter stating that you are on the waiting list for surgery?

Littleteacup1 · 24/06/2019 14:17

I haven’t had a letter at all last time I had no wait and from seeing gynaecologist to op was under a month will just wait if that’s normal

It depends. Once I had 12 hours notice regarding surgery. It all depends on the list. Someone might cancel or bump you lower depending on needs/emergency. I would just wait for the letter, I know it's frustrating though.

I had a heart operation cancelled half an hour before due to an emergency.

Why don't you just phone them? All hospitals are different and admin varies even between departments. I'm sure you'll get the answers you need

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 24/06/2019 14:26

You've still got 3 months to go, you'll probably hear about 6 weeks or so beforehand. I've been waiting a year for mine, given up and gone private as did have an op booked but it got cancelled.

Ring the department's admin - mistakes happen and if all is going according to plan then at least your mind will be at rest.

honeycrumpet · 24/06/2019 14:53

Yeah just ring them, they should be able to tell you whereabouts you are in the process.

I needed a day surgery procedure; was told the wait was 4-6 weeks; after 8 weeks ago d not heard anything so chased up with the consultant secretary to be told wait time was 3-5 months and no one would have advised a waiting time of weeks. Then found out the consultant who had booked it was on long term leave so all their patients were being fitted into other consultant’s lists. Ended up waiting almost 6 months for the procedure in the end!!
