AIBU... stolen parcels!!

I live in a ‘unit’ it’s called with locked coded gates and postboxes, we have not long moved in and waiting for the agency to provide us a letter box key. It wasn’t a worry as any parcels usually go to the post office as they don’t fit.

Last week a delivery of earrings were ‘delivered’ and I couldn’t find them so reported it to the company and waiting hear back.

Now a dress was delivered and photo provided by post to show photo of the letter boxes and it’s gone! They are saying nothing they can do when I called.

AIBU to put a note on my letter box which someone is clearly regularly visiting? I was just going to kindly ask for the items to be returned so we can all live in a safe environment. I am quite upset as I never steal an it makes me feel unsafe in my unit when we live in quite a safe area.

My partner suggested a fake parcel with the note inside and seeing if it’s taken lol Grin

I have now lost quite abit of money on the expensive dress and silver earrings.

Did the delivery person put the parcel into your locked letterbox? If not then they’re at fault.

Seeline · 24/06/2019 11:54

So you are saying you haven't got a key to your own letter box, but you think someone else has?

I would be straight onto the agency demanding they get it sorted. If some else has a key then the lock needs changing.

Are you sure tings are actually being delivered into the correct letter box?

Finfintytint · 24/06/2019 11:55

Get on to the agency to provide you with a key. If it’s a communal area is there any cctv?

WiddlinDiddlin · 24/06/2019 11:58

Boobytrapped package containing a fuckton of superfine glitter :D Then just watch outfor your sparkly theif!

Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:05

@DugHug it’s not locked because we weren’t given a key, I have requested from the agent, not blaming the delivery it’s not their fault people steal Smile

Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:06

@Seeline the letter box is open on the inside , but only residents have access .

Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:09

@WiddlinDiddlin hahaha I thought that! I might fill a bag with rubbish Grin

@Finfintytint yes I’ve contacted the agency to ask for these, think I am just too trustworthy and thought cause only residents could assess noone would go in my box. I am obviously abit nieve Blush

DugHug · 24/06/2019 12:09

So it isn’t necessarily a resident? Your box is open on the outside so anyone could have taken it?

I’d pursue the delivery company. They shouldn’t have put the parcel into an unlocked letterbox. They should have knocked or left it with a neighbour if you were out.

Seeline · 24/06/2019 12:11

tell the agency that you will seeking compensation for all the lost parcels until you receive the key. Can you go to their office?

Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:12

@DugHug there’s a small slit on the outside to the street then you have to be inside the gates (pin coded) to access to boxes from the inside, I’m not sure someone would get there hand from the outside . I’ve gone to the box the afternoons they’ve been delivered an they have been gone when i’ve finished work so makes me think it’s a regular think they are checking.. Angry

There's a fake parcel vid on Facebook, showing you how to attach a tracking device etc. It also contained glitter and fart spray. I vote you do that.

Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:13

@Seeline yes i’ve sent them an email today, I should of chased sooner but have had so much on our mind we’ve just moved here (new country) stress of moving plus still sorting new visas, new jobs , new cars everything it was one of those ‘i’ll get round to it’ tasks Blush

Seeline · 24/06/2019 12:14

Can you fit a padlock as a temporary solution?

boobirdblue · 24/06/2019 12:17

Get your parcels delivered elsewhere! You won't get compensation from the courier.

DugHug · 24/06/2019 12:21

So it’s someone on the inside who has opened your unlocked box and taken your parcels. You need the key ASAP to prevent this happening again. I’d still pursue the delivery company though. They shouldn’t be posting parcels through the letterbox without a signature.

Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:23

All my parcels are being diverted now I’ve spoken to the post however my question is should I leave a note to try and see if someone had a conscience and may return in the hope they may see I’m a nice person who doesn’t deserve this really Blush

OP posts:
Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:24

@DugHug yes they don’t usually tend to leave things because it’s a unit. I’m chasing up the key but I just hate living near someone who would deliberately steal as you would have to be looking regularly to see the parcels on the exact days! People have no shame!

OP posts:
Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:26

@boobirdblue I know this , my question is re leaving a note for the robber lol

OP posts:
Hellbentwellwent · 24/06/2019 12:28

pom someone with a conscience would be steal parcels in the first place. I very much doubt you’ll get your stuff back.

Why did you order stuff for delivery if you had no secure collection point, especially after the first thing went missing??

butterry · 24/06/2019 12:38

Is there CCTV in that area? I would report to the management agent and have them send an email around to all residents as a warning to be vigilant with thefts. Might deter the culprit

RestingBitchFaced · 24/06/2019 12:39

No I wouldn't bother leaving a note, they are not going to return your stuff. Get that glitter contraption that someone mentioned further up the thread

Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:47

@Hellbentwellwent I made the deliveries around the same time but they came a week apart, clothes are never usually left because they don’t fit and obviously can’t get to my door , they usually auto defer to post office Blush

OP posts:
Pomgirl · 24/06/2019 12:48

@butterry yeah that’s a good idea - nothings ever safe I am so trusting Angry

FunnyHappyGirl · 24/06/2019 12:49

I would love it if you could do this - Booby Trapped Parcel

Or send yourself one of these - Glitter Bomb Letter

TixieLix · 24/06/2019 12:52

I'd leave a fake parcel with a note saying "You seen to have opened the wrong mailbox. This one belongs to Flat X. If you are the person who has taken my previous parcels, please return them as soon as possible, no questions asked".
