Anyone tried this? I can get a one to one session locally for £25 but would I just be wasting my money?

it would be interesting to see what my brain could come up with under hypnosis, how creative it would be.

Me too. I'm a skeptic with no imagination and a limited understanding of what life was like during different periods of history. I might actually be willing to pay £25 just to see how appallingly historically inaccurate my past lives would be...

Back to the original question: I suppose anything that gives you a new perspective or helps you work through some unconscious issues is worth a try, but I fundamentally don't think the whole "past lives" thing is real. Surely it's all predicated on the existence of an actual soul (where's the evidence for that?) which then somehow transfers itself into a new life (when? at conception, during gestation, after birth?). It's beyond all sense of reason. Sorry if that makes me "closed-minded".

One PP mentioned the idea that everyone we love is somehow reincarnated as someone close to us, but different, in each life. What a logistical nightmare that would be! Like lesson planning, but with billions of people.

To anyone who is interested in reincarnation, or lives between lives, this book is good: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives by Michael Newton Ph.D
He also did a follow up book, Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives. Both available on Amazon.

Very interesting books to read. I don't know if I'm 100% convinced by it (Saying there is no hell, but what about people that have hellish NDEs?) but it is comforting and on occasion says his clients are consistent with their reports so who knows? I enjoyed reading them anyway, they are very thorough.

I'd love to have this done. I am a bit woo though, and have always felt like if ever been here before.

73kittycat73 · 06/07/2019 18:32

Sorry, should have clarified, they are about hypnotising people and accessing their lives between lives.

Zoobluebabypink · 06/07/2019 18:32

I’d love to have it done

CockleburIck · 06/07/2019 18:40

It’s fascinating what comes up in these sessions, what people are about to conjure up and describe. I can understand why people would like to experience it.
Its certainly not evidence of previous lives, though!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/07/2019 18:47

I am trained to do this - it it’s a therapeutic tool rather than a real thing.

It’s useful to let the mind explore issues and try to make sense of thing that you don’t feel in control of. Otherwise Cleopatra and Napoleon would have been full of the souls of future people. No one is even a housewife from Milton Keynes. It’s fun but not real.

Zoobluebabypink · 06/07/2019 18:53

@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD
That’s so interesting!
How does it all work? How are you trained?

NotAsDrunkAsYouThinkIAm · 06/07/2019 18:53

Good Lord, and I thought I talked a load of bollox. Past life regression indeed. Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/07/2019 20:01

My approach is - I know it’s not real, you know it’s not real so let’s get on with it. If people ask - nope. It’s not for a laugh. It’s just a therapeutic technique.

It can be useful for people to use their imagination to try to resolve some issue - so if they have an irrational fear of dogs and don’t ever remember being bitten, or it would be a bad idea for them to remember an attack (for various reasons) their imagination might very well conjour up some past life where they were brought up by hounds or saw someone eaten by a wolf. Hey presto, ‘oh so that’s why I don’t like dogs, it all makes sense now’ and the fear lessens because they have a reason.

The brain is a funny old thing. I learned it as a part of my training and we all had a go - soooooo many ancient Romans! I assume they must’ve shown Gladiator on tv that week.

NotAsDrunkAsYouThinkIAm · 06/07/2019 20:27

See, Penguin, what you're saying makes sense.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/07/2019 20:41

I am a wise old 🐧

Handbagfetish, do you really believe in reincarnation? You must do if you are prepared to spend money to delve into a past life.

There are no 'past lives', there is only this life. You could delve into half forgotten/buried memories from your life but going back to a life before you were even in earthly existence is quite ridiculous.
