Anyone tried this? I can get a one to one session locally for £25 but would I just be wasting my money?

The people who do this, clearly want to believe it is true. So they are always going to come up with some imagined history and then convince themselves it wasn't their imagination they really were that person.

Logically you know it's shite , but if for some reason you're ok with that and want to pay a stranger so you can come up with something, then go for it, the stranger will be perfectly happy to enable you.

Or you could just make it up in your own home. No need for someone else to be involved. That doesn't validate it.

Sizeofalentil · 23/06/2019 20:10

I've had one done before - I'm not a believer but it was fantastic. Just interesting and fun.

I was taken back to three lives (was told to choose three that I felt would be significant to me that time and day). Sadly, they were all very boring. Was asked for a message from each life for the present 'me' though, which was quite interesting.

teyem · 23/06/2019 20:11

Maybe it's like guided day-dreaming for the unimaginative.

Throckmorton · 23/06/2019 20:12

Oh come on, who really believes we were all someone else first? Why would that be?

LaurieFairyCake · 23/06/2019 20:14

Well about a billion Hindus do Grin

PaddyF0dder · 23/06/2019 20:15

I’d love to hear how they mesh with bullshit with the fact of population growth.

humblebumblebees · 23/06/2019 20:16

There was a thread on here recently with a link to the story of the Glasgow boy who talked a lot about his Barra mum and family from when he was here before. It was fascinating and a lot but not all of his recollections were verified.

Made me re-think my present cynicism.

humblebumblebees · 23/06/2019 20:17

Good point, @PaddyF0dder

Sparklesocks · 23/06/2019 20:18

I don’t believe in it at all personally so I wouldn’t give a charlatan my money (there are many more fun ways to burn £25!), but it’s not my business if others feel differently.

humblebumblebees · 23/06/2019 20:18

Sorry, I meant @LaurieFairyCake . There was a couple of Hindu people on my course.

Lifecraft · 23/06/2019 22:11

I bet none of the closed minded people on here have ever had one done so their opinions are not exactly well informed

I've never been to the South Pole but I feel perfectly well educated enough to say it's fucking cold.

OP, as said, you were Cleopatra, or Queen Elizabeth I. You definitely weren't an accounts clerk from Tamworth. No one ever is.

Stop worrying about your past life and get a present one.

Minkies11 · 23/06/2019 22:15

What utter, utter bullshit. But it might be a laugh - I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face!

codemonkey · 23/06/2019 22:17

Ooh. I've won my woo bingo on page 1. People who don't believe in this UTTER SHITE are 'closed minded'. BINGO! Grin

IhaveALooBrush · 23/06/2019 22:28

It's tosh
Spend the money on wine it will be much more fun

TheFaerieQueene · 23/06/2019 22:35

If being called closed minded for not believing in something so patently nonsense suggests that the open minded, who do chose to believe, must be so open minded their brains have fallen out. 🤣

DarkAtEndOfTunnel · 23/06/2019 22:42

I’d love to hear how they mesh with bullshit with the fact of population growth.
If you look at how many other forms of life on the planet have died as humans have expanded you might get an "equals" I suppose. Assuming you can be different animals. So can you, as well as male and female??
I regard it as similar to the hypnosis for bringing back 'buried memories'. That went down badly as I recall. I don't know how you'd prove this sort of thing happening / not happening and until then it has to be regarded sceptically.

Will0wtree · 23/06/2019 22:50

I don't believe in past lives, but had one done as a bit of fun. It wasn't like being hypnotised, I as totally aware of where I was. It was a bit like relating a daydream, and the past life guider wrote it down as I said it aloud. She would ask leading questions, like "What can you see?" "What is his name?" to prompt you onwards.

I was a poor male (I'm female) tailor in the 1700s in a small town in Germany altering/making garments for rich people.

I had vivid memories of my wife and two daughters, and the couple of rooms over a a shop-front that we lived n.

While I don't believe it's true, it was tremendous fun, and I oddly still feel about the memory as though it's real. I can remember meeting my best friend, who was a barber/surgeon, down by the banks of a river.

I don't believe it's true, but it was fun. And it makes me wonder why my subconscious came up with that as my past life...I would certainly have chosen something a bit more glamorous consciously...or something a bit more in-line with my interests. No offence to 1700's Germany but something ancient Egypt, Greek or Celtic would have been way more up my alley.

Magicpaintbrush · 23/06/2019 23:02

My aunty-in-law is a registered and fully trained hynpotherapist who used to do 'life between lives' regression and whether you choose to believe in it or not I can 100% tell you that she is not a con artist or anything of the sort. She is a truly lovely, gentle and caring lady who has these beliefs and who believes that she can genuinely help people. She would NEVER mislead anyone. Whether you choose to believe in it all yourself is up to the individual.

The idea is that we have a number of different lives and we have a soul group, and our soul group appear as people who are important to us in all of our lives. So for example a member of your soul group might be your mother in one life, but in the next life they might be reborn as your sister or your best friend. I believe there is a society called the Newton Institute who train the life between lives hypnotherapists and they have many conferences and seminars about it all. Not sure what I think of it all personally but I respect my aunty-in-law's beliefs and I find her views quite fascinating.

Beautiful3 · 23/06/2019 23:22

You can do it yourself through meditation. I did it and discovered some of mine.

Lifecraft · 24/06/2019 08:39

Ooh. I've won my woo bingo on page 1. People who don't believe in this UTTER SHITE are 'closed minded'. BINGO

Some people on here are very closed minded to idea that past life regression is a made up load of old toot.

MeSoTooSo · 24/06/2019 08:50

I bet none of the closed minded people on here have ever had one done so their opinions are not exactly well informed

RTFT, I did.

And can report it's bullshit. I had mine done by probably the most well known 'regression therapist' and she's a fake. Totally in it for the money (£250 a session) and forever marketing herself after a stint on TV.

Almost as bad as 'mediums'.

7Days · 24/06/2019 08:53

Hmm.
I've done the YouTube ones.
All very relaxing and calming but usually just fall asleep.

But in one I saw my hands rub dust off the soles of my feet. I had dark skin, and tough calluosed feet. (Now I'm fair, with hobbity feet). I was wearing red/brown robes, it was sunny and windy and the landscape was hilly, dusty and rocky.
That's it really. Nothing dramatic. It felt different to imagining something.

KidLorneRoll · 24/06/2019 09:14

It's a con.

Just like psychics, anyone who claims to do this sort of thing are either deluded or frauds.

CollaterlyS1sters · 24/06/2019 14:18

I bet none of the closed minded people on here have ever had one done so their opinions are not exactly well informed

I haven't had meningitis either but I'm pretty sure it's not much fun.

Is that terribly 'closed minded' of me too?

ShimmeringWaffle · 24/06/2019 14:26

Depends what you want to get out of it.

A warning though: I ended up with extreme anxiety after I found out I had a pretty traumatic past life. Turns out in a past life I was a Hedgehog that got run over by a chariot. =(
