In thinking I have no chance?

Ex has turned something silly in to a petty competition.
He doesn't/isn't supporting the children financially (so I'm going through the CMS) so he does have more 'spare funds' than I do, especially as I've had to claim Universal credit.

One of the children mentioned to him that I planned on getting something replaced, just for him to turn around to me and say 'I bet I get one before you'.
I know he will, but am I petty to be a little bit annoyed that this will be the case? I know I'm going to get flamed for this, I'm sure I'll be told to grow up etc but I'm annoyed that not only am I responsible for 100% of the childrens care & meeting their needs in every way possible but also because this doesn't leave much room for other 'essentials' & knowing he has all this spare money because he isn't having to buy clothes, shoes, nappies etc stings!

He sounds like a dick. Don't rise to it. Don't give him the satisfaction.

That's not a competition, that's him trying to get a rise out of you and you falling into the trap.

I'd feel sorry for him that he's so hung up on you the only way he gets satisfaction is trying to lord it over you about absolutely nothing at all. He sounds tragic.

I think I would say something like,
‘Well obviously you will. Because you’re a knob who doesn’t provide for our children whereas all my spare money goes on looking after them.’

It's a piece of furniture which I do need to replace due to kids and bugs basically ruining it! Where as he's got 1, fits what he needs and nothing wrong with it, he's just a cunt!
