Friend of DH’s wife chummily told me that one of his family members was doing really well work wise. Their salary was very good but they also got given a bonus deposited in an offshore account in which they didn’t pay any tax at all. The bonus was double the salary. They work and live in the UK. DH works in finance and knows this is not on but says we should keep out of it as we don’t know the details. I feel strange about ut

What...are you suggesting you'd feel better if you dobbed them in?

Just keep your nose out of gossip. Focus on your own life. It's much healthier.

Why do you feel uneasy? In the kindest way, it's nothing to do with you. Don't worry about it.

Bitshocked · 23/06/2019 12:51

Definitely wouldn’t dob anyone in

Just a bit shocked and deflated that practices like this still happen - hence wanting to discuss on an anonymous forum!!!

As terrible as it is that it happens, it's also not the worst thing in the world and there's very little that can be done by individuals to prevent it.

well of course it still goes on Confused

I can see that you’re trying to do the ‘right thing’ but factually you know nothing. I doubt you can report “My husband’s friends’s Wife’s relative might be doing something wrong, but I only know this information as gossip with no evidence to substantiate”

I know you’re trying to be an honest person, but I doubt you’d even get listened to

Well, it's most likely illegal and the company could well be prosecuted if anyone finds out. I do agree with you though and am surprised that tax evasion isn't considered worse on here. I can think of much better uses of the billions of pounds which is lost through tax evasion every year...
