To ask what it’s like to have a famous DH?

I’m just being nosy really, I bet there’s a few posters on here with partners who have achieved some level of fame. And no I don’t expect anyone to reveal identifying information!

What is it like though, knowing that random people admire your DH? Does it make them cocky, or make you feel uncomfortable when other women take an interest in them? I think I’d find it quite exposing and difficult tbh. I have a friend who was in a similar situation with a musician for three years and I know she found it hard.

I've mentioned it on here under a different name (I NC very frequently) so I won't put details.

An ex of mine was a very well known promoter and icon related to a well known band from the nineties in the grunge - indie - rock scene.

Many people would easily pass him and have no idea who he is, but we did have people cotton on regularly. He pretended he was bashful about it but he loved it, he always bigged himself up as more famous than he was. He was also using me and wasn't a very nice guy so I dumped him.

StatFlanley · 22/06/2019 18:16

NC for this, I have a half brother who is an internationally famous singer and gets recognised. And another brother who used to be on the telly and is friends with lots of household names. He once shagged a v v famous TV star, I find out when he was rowing with his girlfriend who screamed at him 'and you shagged xxxx'. Every time she comes in the TV that line pops up in my head.

I would hate to be famous Sad

OralBElectricToothbrush · 22/06/2019 18:46

I'd gladly put up with paps to be near Keanu Reeves, though! LUSH!

Cloudhopping · 22/06/2019 19:11

Marvik is it Tom Holland and Dominic Holland?

OverInfestedBadger · 22/06/2019 19:14

Gidget Alan Davies?

Iamnotagoddess · 22/06/2019 19:14

Do you have to be particularly famous to have your obituary in The Guardian?

My Grandads was and no one would really know who he was tbh.

OverInfestedBadger · 22/06/2019 19:14

Who by the way I have seen at a local soft play, and my dd threw a load of balls from the ball pit at him Blush

Benes · 22/06/2019 19:18

My friends DH is a famous actor but really unassuming. People often recognise him but can't quite place where from....the best one was the guy who was convinced he was the plumber who fitted his mum's boiler 😂😂

Tunnocks34 · 22/06/2019 19:19

I went out with a United player (ex now - don’t even think he’s still a footballer) . He was very good looking although not a famous, famous player like Becks, or Giggs, but well known enough that he was recognised. He was a massive bellend anyway, lapped up the attention he was given by other woman and cheated on me about 2 months into it. I ended it, and that was that.

IrishGal21 · 22/06/2019 19:21

Someone I know went to Uni with Will Young and still has their party pic of him in his underpants totally drunk lol

Maddiemademe · 22/06/2019 19:24

I am very famous in the porn industry. Can be funny when men look at me confused trying to work out where they know me from 😂

ScaryBunnyPainting · 22/06/2019 19:25

My husband was once on a couple of episodes of a TV show because of his job and the week after each episode he was stopped in the street with people asking him to look at their medical complaints. Grin

JacquesHammer · 22/06/2019 19:27

Tunnocks34

I'm in a LTR with a fairly famous British character actor. The main problem we have isn't being papped at airports or having people ask for autographs (they're occupational hazards), it's that there's one crazy woman who tells all her friends and colleagues that she's married to him. She also pretends to be some kind of Scottish aristocrat. It was quite amusing in the early days but she's been pestering us now for years.

managedmis · 22/06/2019 19:28

That's what I though, ChihuahuaMummy1

BitchQueen90 · 22/06/2019 19:31

Not me but a friend dated someone very famous in the sporting world. Don't know how she did it as a huge number of women fancy the pants off him. It would get on my nerves.

justasking111 · 22/06/2019 19:31

That is another thing that puts me off. Stalkers who pursue you. Now they can be frightening with their delusions.

GidgetGirl · 22/06/2019 19:34

Hah, I think I’ve got it easy having a not-overtly-sexy partner. I mean he’s incredibly sexy as himself, but not when he’s on stage. His persona is absolutely 100% unsexy and unsexual.

HelloJuly · 22/06/2019 19:41

I have a relative who is close, professionally, to a musician most people won't have heard of but his fans bloody love him. I've seen his boyish humble musician persona and also heard 1st hand about his narcissistic personality and how he left his family and is now with someone much much younger who basically has to be kept out of the way of his older female fans

MRex · 22/06/2019 19:49

I once dated a struggling musician who said he was "big in Japan". I laughed assuming it was a joke but then got around to googling a few weeks later in case his band had any music up and found he was actually HUGE in Japan, loads of fan sites etc. I wonder if he still is, but I don't even remember his band name nor surname now.

LimpKebab · 22/06/2019 19:49

Anarchyshake did you date the Nirvana album cover baby? Grin

SuperStupid · 22/06/2019 19:52

I still keep thinking James Acaster! @GidgetGirl

littlepeaegg · 22/06/2019 19:54

My DH was well known back in the day. He presented a tv show on Channel 5.

When we go to events that are based around the sport, he still gets asked for autographs which I think is hilarious.

Ravenesque · 22/06/2019 19:58

If anyone here is married to Stephen Graham then it's lovely to know he's a sound chap. Also, I noticed for the first time, when watching The Virtues, that he has really beautiful hands. If he doesn't get a BAFTA for that performance next year then there is no justice at all.

bottleofbeer · 22/06/2019 20:02

RomanyQueen are you an author?
